Welllll, over on my end of the states it's the dead of winter. Lower than 20degrees out. So I was wondering how people got about doing spay can priming in winter?

5000+pts- Strip and paint project.
~2000pts- 90% painted

I have a large balcony window and I just open it while I prime next to the heater. I also open another window far away on the other side of the apartment, causing the wind to blow strongly enough to take away the fumes.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I spray outside, undercover then put the models in my bathroom with the door closed, window open and fan on which gets rid of the fumes pretty well.

If you have a garage do it inside there in a box with the door open to the outside (for ventilation) and keep the primer inside and come back in like every 5 min. Thats what I do and it works quite well.

The key for spraying in winter is to store both the models and the spray paint in a warm spot (indoors). Take the models outside, prime as normal and IMMEDIATELY bring them back indoors to dry. In the bathroom with an exhaust fan on is a good idea. On top of the stove , under the hood vent, also works (with the stove off obviously).

A brush on primer serves me well in all seasons. I am on the gulf coast and we have high humidity year round, and it makes spray painting ANYTHING a hassle. In the cold, it's extra worse. Brush on primers take extra time, but it's much easier than cleaning things off, and I can do it in my house since I don't have a garage, and I am very sure that the result will be satisfactory every time. Makes doing squads a long affair, but eh, beer.

Put the can under hot water for a bit, so it's nice and warm, take it outside, prime quickly.

Done it in -40C with success.
