This is the list I would run if I was going, but im not. However a friend of mine is and wants to get as many games in as he can. He is going to be taking his Ogres to the party and I think he will fair quite well. Last week he took on my WE which were able to pull off a wicked win, seeing how I tied his little death star for most of the game. So next week he'll be taking on my HE and Ive come up with quite a nasty list that fits my play style, dominance in shooting and magic. Ill be making two more lists later so that way he can get a good feel for at least four armies. Next he'll be taking on my Empire and then my DE, yeah I really like my pointy ear bastards As you may, or may not, be aware there are no named charcters allowed in the tournament at Adepticon and you lose points when you field special and rare units, I have ways of dealing with that though. The biggest weakness I see in this list is other heavy shooty armies and horde styles. Other then that i think its a good one.

Lords:

Arch Mage, Lvl 4, book of Ashur 330 pts

Prince Heavy armor, shield, bow of the seafarer 219 pts

Heros:

Noble BSB, heavy armor, Reaver bow, enchanted shield 164 pts

Mage Lvl 2, annulian Crystal 175 pts

Core:

30 Sea Guard, shields, full command, banner of eternal fire 425 pts

12 archers, banner 142 pts

Special:

15 swordmasters, full command 255 pts

14 white lions, full command, banner of sorcery 290 pts

Rare:

2x Repeater bolt throwers

As we all know fire stops regen the turn they wound so thats why I have given it to my sea guard. If I was playing in the tournament you never know what critters you might run into with regen. Comments are as always welcomed and encouraged

a 75 point mortar could take out your 425 points of sea guard in 2 turns. Also, your unit count in total is rather slim, and could easily be flanked or divided. RBT's are not worth the points. Swordmasters would be better in 2x8 or 2x7.

I just don't see this list being competitive.

Mortar's and cannons are very unrealiable, they always have the tendacy to go off course or blow themselves up. Ive not seen a mortar do that much damage in two turns ever, and I have three of them!! I dont know how long you have been playing with HE, or DE, my friend but repeater bolt throwers always earn their points back for me. As far being out flanked thats easier said then done, as we all know this is a game of deployment and movement. i've played with my DE who have had a considerable lower model count and held my own with no problems.

Model count and unit count are very different things. RBT's got the shaft this edition, and template weapons got buffed to hell. Any Empire player relying on mortars will bring an engineer to prevent misses, and misfires will always be a 16.6% chance on anything that rolls artillery dice.

At the end of the day, 425 points in a single, overpriced core infantry unit is a bad choice IMO. If anything split into 2 units to avoid losing it all to something stupid like a panic check.

Nieto, do you use engineers? I've gone against an empire gunline with much tougher dwarfs and found multiple templates raining down to be quite devastating...

I do use engineers, one in games under 2250 pts and two in larger games. I find them to be useful to a extent with the rerolls and what not. My dice really hate me when I field warmachines and they blow themselves up more often then not, even when I do have engineers. Repeaters operate the same way that they have before nothing has changed for them. There are plenty of augument spells that help protect one from warmachines, even with engineers lending their help. I like my large droup fo seaguard, even if they're hella expensive. I've found them to work very well against all the armies I face on a normal basis where I live. With HE Ive also found that the magic phase needs to be really strong for them. I normally use life and beasts and go on a buffing frenzy. Toughness five elves with a -1 to hit from shooting and close combat, and warmachines need to roll a 4+ to fire at them, can be really hard to take out with mortars. As I said before there is always a way of dealing with something.

Also keep ing mind you give away points for rares and specials in adepticons tournament structure, so you wont see very many warmacines unless someone wants to lose the game before it even begins. With this list I have to practically table a oppenant to get win because Ive got two rares and two specials.

Looks like they removed the comp restrictions, I can't find them anymore on the web site.

So do you want me to rewrite the list Jon?

For a Shooty HE list, I'd say it looks pretty solid. Only thing I'd change though is to take out the Banner on the Archer squad, and give them a Musician instead. A banner on them wouldn't be necessary, unless they got into CC, which if they did, I wouldn't expect them to live through it. A Musician would help more in the end.

I'd be tempted to drop the prince (and maybe the lvl 2 mage) for more numbers. Your units are all really small except for the afore-mentioned sea guard, which I kind of like as a big unit but I can see the points listed above.

But I think you either need more units or more numbers in your units, and dropping those two "extra" characters would get you there... food for thought!

I'll take that into consideration. I've been thinking about droping the prince and fielding a unit of spearmen and drop the banner from the archers.
