Hey guys! I am new to the website- thanks to all of you who welcomed my introduction thread! Well last semester my roommates really got me into some 40k and although I didn't have a whole lot of time due to work and school, I started buying up boxes for when I would have more time. I did it in a stupid way though and I have a huge army sitting on sprue or in the box. I don't even know if I would want some of the units that I bought. I have been assembling for a couple of days just trying to get it all done as I have nothing else to do until may(Idaho snow sucks!). I've painted d&d minis some but I am new to the whole army painting thing. Any feedback will be received and used! The only thing that I have finished completely is a converted deff dread(I love conversions!). I will be posting here a lot as I work on my army daily.
Remember that I am a total noob to 40k so any negative feedback is wanted and appreciated. I don't want to paint or model anything in a way that is contrary to any mythos. Yeah!!!
I don't know exactly how much I have but Ill try and name it...
120x black reach ork boyz
30x boxed boyz for shoota boyz
6x boxes lootas/burnas to make some flamethrower guys too
2x trucks
3x those black reach helicopters
6x killa kans(3 old style 3 new)
3x 'looted' cans(dreadnought, war walker, sentinel)
4x warbikes w/ 1 nob
2x rhinos to make those looted tanks
1x deff dread
4x mega nobz
15x stormboyz
ghazgull thraka
shock attack guy
the stealth attack boss
the stormboy boss
a box of gretchin
yeah I don't know what the real names of some of those bosses are... ill look at the box another day
This is going to be one of my kanz. He is meant to look like a mini stompa as he will have that 'dress' thing around his feet and a jaw when hes done. Tell me if thats whack.
Heres my only finished model from a free saturday I has last semester.
I will try to post regularly to keep myself motivated.

Wow that's some collection of figures you got there, looks like the start of an awesome waaaagh! Just starting an Ork Army myself (Bad Moons) so I will be watching your progress closely. Good to see you are gonna convert a lot of the models, having lots of sets is really useful for this. The 40k universe is big enough for any ork conversion to exist ( imo) so have fun, as long as you like the model is all that really matters. Really like your finished dread, finished in a Saturday is fast work (by my standards anyway), keep up the great work (subscribed)

Yes I love conversions and this is one of the main reasons that I decided to go with orks. The biggest ones in my army should be those three kanz that Ill be doing. Ill also be using the assembly line painting method haha. I read about that in a good article a couple of months ago here- I dunno where it is now. Ill be posting again later tonight with my next chunk of progress in assembling. Pretty boring post will be but hey its gotta get done!

Looks good so far. I also do Orks because of the endless conversion possibilities. Keep it up.

last night i did some work on kustomized kans and added magnets to make them fit in my new army transport cases(local shop had a sale). still waiting on some bits/plasticard orders to make the other 3 looted kans.
hes gonna count as a shoota boy
someday when they are all painted up a few coats of matte polyurethane should keep them from hurting each other in there.
well im off to assemble some more!! next week this should get more interesting when i actually start to paint/convert thanks for the encouragement bluteisenregal!!

Aye- Orks are my favorite race for a reason!
Youve got a lot of potential comversions here! Ill be watching
Aha! And something I just noticed- you should drill your barrels! It makes the models look much more complete! You can either use a Pin vice or even just the tip of an X-acto blade.

That was one large pile of Orks. Especially for someone who didn't play at the time.
I don't collect Orks myself but my friend (well as much of a friend a a Marine and Ork can be ) has always said that he gets inspired on the table top. "I wish I had done XXX on this model", and now he can because he's an Ork. So much fun, I look forward to seeing more from this thread!

yeah the barrels really need to be drilled out haha that dual slugga shoota boy looks pretty whack- ill definitely be adding hole before i paint thanks for the tip! Automatically Appended Next Post: all my boyz are assembled so they are ready to play with tonight and get primed tomorrow
heres an update on one of my looted can conversions... i botched it a little and there is way too much glue and i am trying to get some of those imperium symbols off but sometime this week the plasticard should be in to make the 'dress' around his feet so he look like a mini stompa.
i should be spending all day tomorrow getting my lootas/burnas assembled also! it'll be fun to work with some different pieces! Automatically Appended Next Post: and yes that couch is really in my apartment. time travel is still impossible.
