Just a quick question i need clarified if someone can help.

In my Tau army i have a unit of 8 Pathfinders i was just wondering about there markerlight designators, Do each of the pathfinders get to fire each of there markerlights (this would put a total of 8 markers on a unit) or do they fire one single marker at the enemy unit. Plus once they have fired there markerlights do they get to shoot???
Im trying to figure it out but if someone who uses them could just give me a heads up that would be great.

Cheers

Each guy is armed with a pulse carbine and a markerlight.

So, each guy gets to choose which weapon to fire - all markerlights, all pulse carbines or a mixture.

Note that all of them have to fire at the same target though (unless you've given the shas a multi-tracker)

Or you give a pathfinder a railrifle, they also come with a target lock.

Also note that a multitracker should allow the teamleader to fire BOTH his carbine and the markerlight (Note: Not by RaW though) and it's the target lock that allows the model to target another unit.

If I use -><- I'm not mocking you, it's a reflex from using the " silly" icon on every other forum.
However, if I use this -><- I might just mock you.

which gets even weirder, seeing how you americans tend to use [the F-word] more often in various meanings than a smurf would use "smurf".

You can fire as many markerlights as you have in the unit. If you have 8 pathfinders, you can fire 8 markerlights. Doesn't mean all of them will hit, however.

No. Markerlights are considered heavy weapons for infantry. Not only do they not get to shoot other weapons, but if they moved, they can't fire the markerlights.

This is all going off of memory, however, because I'm sitting in an airport without my codices.

To clarify, each model carries a pulse carbine and a markerlight and each model can fire exactly one weapon. Since the markerlights are not networked, however, the pulse carbines will not be able to use the bonuses granted by the lights. Remember also that all models have to fire at the same unit.

There's just an acre of you fellas, isn't there?

Something also to add is the squad leader for the pathfinders can take a multi-tracker, except it does nothing for infantry since they are not using battlesuit weapons.
