Although Chaos is a CC based army. I'm sure nobody would argue that a nice long range bombardment can be just as rewarding as cutting a head of with a chainaxe.

So here is my Chaos Hell Cannon.

Range G24-72" S 9 AP 2 Ord 1 Large Blast.

Crew:1 Warsmith. WS5 BS5 S4 T4 W2 I2 A2 Ld10
Weapons:Bolt Pistol,Power weapon,Artificier armour and Full Servo-harness.

Special rules:
"Panic",Any unit that takes at least one wound regardless of save must take a Ld test.
"Daemonic plaything",the Hell Cannon itself can make D6 S5 attacks in the assualt phase at I1,normal saves apply.

Marks of Chaos.
Khorne:After the weapon has fired,you may roll a D6, 2-4 nothing happens,5-6 you may fire once more,1 Cannon explodes.
Slaanesh: Any unit charging the Cannon count as moving through difficult terrain,(due to the loud,painfull warp screaming).
Nurlge:Nurgles rot,enemy units with 6" take a S4 hit in the assault phase,saves apply.
Tzeentch:Roll a d6 before each shot,1-5 nothing changes,6 Cannon also ignores Inv save. Warsmith gains "Warpsight" phychic power.Used at the beginning of the turn,If Ld test is passed,the Warsmith may re-roll the scatter dice.

It was just a nice little idea I got from envy of the Thunderfire Cannon that the loyalist SM have.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Ok first off we need points, secondly it's WAY overpowered.

It should have 2 crew instead of 1 and the 2 crewmembers should have something simple like a bolt pistol and chainaxe and be WS 3 BS 3 S 3 T 3 W 1 I 3 A 1 Ld 10 Sv 5+ (or something along those lines, also give them the ability to "repair" the cannons wounds and to add more for X points that increase the chance of a repair). You obviously modeled it after Fantasy and I think thats cool but Fantasy crews can't fight that well. I also understand you were trying to make it like the Thunderfire Cannon but remember Chaos don't have Techpriests...at all.

MoK is the most overpowered part of it. I assume when you say 1 cannon explodes these things can be taken in a Squadren? I would instead say the Cannon gets 2D6 Str 5 attacks in CC.

MoT is also overpowered. I would say MoT: The cannon gains a magical fire around the shell which is capable of reducing even the heaviest armor to scrap the cannon now rolls 2D6 Armor pen against vehicles and counts as Melta.

Make the Warpsight which is by itself ok a 15pt upgrade power if he's given the Mot.

I like the idea but what you have created is, if I had to guess, a 200pt cannon that is 100x better than the Thunderfire.

I do think its a cool idea though. After all, this part of the forum is for tweaking your own ideas. Keep working at it. I'll be watching this thread!

@Sanguinius: you say it's overpowered, then go on to say, instead of D6 Str5 attacks, it should get 2D6 Str5 attacks; then (or instead), you want to make it a 72" Str 9 Melta large blast? That's making it even more powerful. In any case, how would the Melta rule (2D6 armour pen) match with the Ordnance rule (Roll 2 dice, pick the highest)? Would you roll 3 dice and pick the 2 highest, or 4 dice and pick the 2 highest?

Regarding "...1 cannon explodes..." the OP meant that on a roll of 1, the cannon explodes

I think the hell cannon is too big to be normal artillery.
I also think that it shouldn't get marks.
Lesser daemons don't get marks, why should a daemon machine?

I guess it is a little flawed.

It was just a quick idea,kinda had the fantasy model in mind when I came up with it.

Ok maybe a quick change.
Make it G24"-72" S9 AP2 Ord1 Large blast, maybe make it half the points of a Defiler.

Crewed by two Chaos Servitors maybe.

IMO by itself It's a more fragile but more powerful, Immobile Basilisk with shorter range.

A basilisk is 125. Increase the AP by one but make any glance / pen hit kill it is a trade that favors the basilisk imo. Keep it at 125 & lose the power weapon on the warsmith & it's fine. The warsmiths BS 5 helps cover the cost of being more fragile & immobile. I don't know why everyone is crying OP. Also change the ld test thing to any UNSAVED wounds in which case it makes the enemy fall back rather than be pinned. If anything it should only go up to 135 max.

Honestly, given how easy it is to take out (it is artillery, after all), I wouldn't call it OP at all. It's a big liability for your opponent, but one lucky shot will kill it, something a 75-point IG autocannon team can pull of with a better-than-average chance. Not too scary, IMHO.
