I've been thinking about a competitive list at 1250 points that takes advantage of the assault prowess of the Blood Angels. It's a basic list that spams assault marines and uses dreadnoughts in pods to pop armour and add to the close combat fun. Please comment.

Librarian (125 pts)
-Shield and Lance
-Jump Pack

Furioso Dreadnought (170 pts)
-Blood Talons
-Heavy Flamer
-Drop Pod

Furioso Dreadnought (170 pts)
-Blood Talons
-Heavy Flamer
-Drop Pod

10 Assault Marines (215 pts)
-Powerfist

10 Assault Marines (215 pts)
-Powerfist

10 Assault Marines (215 pts)
-Powerfist

5 Assault Marines (110 pts)
-Melta Gun
-Drop Pod

1220 + 30 points to play with

Dont forget about your Multi Meltas on your Dreads. Those I would say are the most important thing for them.

actually pretty good DoA list

you have 30 pts to buy meltaguns for the 3 assualt squads - not really an option, more of a neccesity (I think I spelled it right).

I pretty much just second the meltaguns on the assault squads. They're pretty standard issue required.

I like this list, except you need more melta put at least 1 in each assault squad! All army needs melta, if you think you have enough add 2 more in!

Same list, different army

Meltagun comes standard on Furiosos...guess I should include it in the list though. Good catch.

Good list, but if you want your dreads to be even better against armor, you probably want blood fists.

good point. i'll experiment with both at my FLGS. maybe split between the two dreads; one with talons and one with fists and see which works best.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but assault marines can't take drop pods right? I'd takeout 1 furiso and put in a furiso librianan. If you want to drop that little 5 man squad, you could maybe put in some priest.

Nah the cdex says if you remove there packs you get a discount from any dedicated transport so DP's a good nice list but deffinately need priests i'd lose the 5 man assault squad to cover the cost

I'd go out on a limb to say that he took those 5 marines in a drop pod in order to get his drop pod count up to three, which is a smart move because you need both of those dreads coming in on turn one in order for them to be worth it.

He could use the other drop pod to land on a home objective and use the 5man squad to hold it. Anyway you look at it he needs three drop pods.

Priests would be nice but I do not really see a way to incorporate them into the list with three pods and like I said you need three or else the two dreads are a huge waste of points.

I'm both instinctive and emotional. I value my own instincts and desires, and either ignore or crush anything that stands in my way; planning and foresight are unnecessary. At best, I'm determined and fierce; at worst, I'm headstrong and infantile.

Couldn't have said it better myself Lax. Priests would be nice, but I'm kinda limited by the necessity to take 3 pods. I'll probably add priests in a 1500 list.
