I like them! Are you planning on putting them on bases or keeping them like they are?

You need to paint two circles on the front of your stormbolters to represent the barrels the bullets come out of. At the moment they look like solid metal bars. Other than that they are very well painted, I particularly like the metallic look of the base the genestealer is hanging off.

If these are your first ever models (painted) I suggest scenic basing them. It will further allow you to use some skills you already obviously have knowledge of plus some more, water affects, lighting, etc.

quite hard to believe that this is your first paintjob ever.. some of the painting on this (especially hte termies) is just too advanced.
anyway they look good, but the color scheme on your Nids.. kinda looks like they have latex costumes on

NO! ... no Gits!

first of all thanks for the feedback...
I don't know what does it mean "too advanced"... i mean i have just followed the guide on GW site.. and read some kind of articles before start..
It is easy to see that using one simple passage of color is not enough... I understand that painting these things it must end in an effect like watching a Caravaggio drawing.. just let's pop up the image from the background using shadows and lights
..and then ahahha yeah from pics they have latex costumes! I just tried to have a really dark blue... asurmen blue + badab black wash...because i want to create a contrast with the space marines...

Scenic basing? what does it mean? ... I mean i would like to still play the game
But the water affects really interest me.. for example i would like to use it (if i'm understanding well) on gems and things like that...to give a glossy effect

Thanks! yeah i know, you are right... but i think that with a proper tool i can directly make 2 holes on stormbolters, no? i think it can come out better that not simply paint them... i don't know ...

A small drill bit of about 1mm diameter and something to hold it with like a pin vice. I just thought as you'd painted them you wouldn't be drilling holes in them.
Getting the holes nice and centred can be hard so be careful!

I think he means that when most people paint their first model they aren't able to to be very detailed, and the colours are thick and splodgy.
Do you have any other experience of painting things like this?

Loving the models though, really well done!

Yea youve got to have experience painting something anyways, as for a true first time that would be pretty much impossible.

I wish the pics were a little better but still, I can tell you did a very nice job on those.

Thanks guys!.. yeah the pics are a bit bad... i'll try to upload something better these next days... taking pics with natural light.
yes, they are my first minis, i tried to copy exactly and follow the step by step guides on the GW site... i always liked the world of warhammer 40k but i have never been really into it..
I like to paint, yes.. but not minis, not miniatures, or anything related with board games...
i like to draw and do sketches, because of my preparation and studies.
nothing more

HOW THE F*** ARE THEY YOUR FIRST MODELS?! I've been painting for 3 years now and only a couple are up to that standard!!!
I envy you. May you continue to paint 40k for the rest of your days. Do you like painting? Coz' although I don't need anything painted, you could do a good job in doing commissions.

What artistic-y experience have you had? I am very sceptical that you've painted that well with no experience. If you have-
-don't give up. You have a natural talent- don't waste it.
-practice, practice, practice. I can easily see you winning GD in a few years if you keep it up.

I'm sure he's done some art degree or somesuch, these just happen to be his first miniatures. If not, hell, I still believe him. But then again, I'm a trusting type of person who doesn't feel the need to question peoples talent.

Just sayin'

By the by, great models, I'm hugely impressed!

I'm an architect...
and you can win a GD maybe painting for 8h each days for the rest of you life... maybe...
I like to paint.. but not minis...
I think that my "level" can be achieved really fast... simply organizing all the steps of the work.. and trying to think about them : where do i want the shadows? I have to use the brush tip or brush side?
And trying to anticipate the errors.
I know that i'm not in the position to give advices, but i'm just explaining my way to paint these things...
nothing more, because, for eveything else, i follow directly the guides on the gw's site

i'll post in progress images of brother noctis

Most people don't have the patience to do all those steps which is why even "by the numbers" painting impresses. I like converting models but I have a complete lack of interest in painting them so it's nice to see the work of those who do put the effort in.

Yes i think this is the main reason...

These are in progress images of brother noctis... i have just tried different steps painting brother noctis.. detailing the shadows with chaos black was really a good idea!

Great job.

Send them to me, they are so horrible that I need to keep them from you and save you from touching such evil......

Those are some of the best first paintjob mini's I've ever seen. Great Job!

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
