I thought that this would be an entertaining and humorous video seeing as it perfectly fits some aspects of the Space Wolves, but obviously some people can't take a joke.

Well showing your displeasure at an army and a certain growing playstyle on the internet isn't a bad thing, it lets people vent at least.

It really sucks for anyone who collected SW before 5th. Nobody complained then.

Now everybody cries tears of blood and excretes bricks over the 5th edition dex. It's a pain in the backside really. Same goes for BA, to be fair.
Everyone without a 5th edition dex is crying like a little child.

I miss my old codex, I'm not going to lie. New models are nice, but damn did I have a lot more fun with my wonky old codex full of rules from 3rd to 5th edition. I just don't enjoy the new codex more, and having people all over the Internet harp on it is really getting old.

I'm really not happy with what happened to the Blood Angels though. They went from minor divergence to radically different wacky codex, and I don't like that.

They did get a bit silly trying to flesh out BA into a full dex, I agree with that for sure.

They made them borderline heretical. I'd rather use the Vanilla 'dex for Blood Angels, if I still had mine.

I can take a joke and yeah it is funny but it is getting really old...

I don't have a problem with spam. A similar, unified and cohesive force actually makes a lot of sense tactically, and it really isn't that much of a stretch fluff wise. And I love space wolves. I used to play them and still do sometimes when we toss wisiwyg out the window. Why?




That's right, I love the fluff. A bunch of Space marines that are so hardcore that they go out of their way to make booze that can get them drunk is just about the funniest thing this side of the Shokk attack gun. So go ahead, spam all you want... Unless you remove from your army all the CC specialists and put in a bajillion long range guys that are as completely at odds with the fluff as it is possible to be.

These. People just assume that because you're a Space Wolf player you must field loadsa Razorbacks and Long Fangs. I miss the old Codex, I actually preferred it, less competitive or not.

I completely understand the complaints about spam- I just don't like how people apply it to ALL SW players. Some of us like to try something new; Unholy's a great example of that. It's the same way with most armies- Blood Angels and IG Mech come to mind...

The sad thing to me is that yes, redundancy can be a bit boring. However it is a perfectly viable military strategy. Think about playing against an army where every unit was specialized to do ONE job and do it well. *Cough* eldar *cough*. If I run my mechanized army against them I kill the fire dragons & knock out the lances and the rest is more or less a clean-up.

Now against my friends wolves (missile spam) I can't prioritize. I look at the board & see:

Long fangs
Long Fangs
Long Fans w/ Logan
5 man wolf guard with 1 in termie armor & a CML
5 man wolf guard with 1 in termie armor & a CML
5 man wolf guard with 1 in termie armor & a CML
5 man wolf guard with 1 in termie armor & a CML
5 man wolf guard with 1 in termie armor & a CML
TWC Storm Shield P Fist (Str 10)

What do I hit first? The long fangs usually but EVERYTHING is a threat & if I kill one, big deal he has at least 2 more that can do the same job. It's a good strategy, makes perfect tactical sense & shows a good understanding of basic military tactics. People who cry spam & cheese need to learn to be more competitive or just not play against those of us who are.

I'm sure the poster didn't intent it that way...

Having ones army ragged on can be irritating, but unfortunately, there's usually a reason that it occurs. It unfortunately happens to be that many SW players do field spam lists, and the army excels at functioning as a spam list more than many others. It's not unique to SW's. Not every IG army is chimeltavendettavets spam for instance, but any IG army with a Chimera often gets labelled a "zomg BoLS Netlist LEAFBLOWR!" army. SW's just happen to be probably one of the most spammiest at the top tournament level at this time and for good reason, and there's justifiably much derision at this (thank you Phill Kelly... ).

Truly it's not just the Wolves, but every army has their spamed units. The question is why?

I feel it is because of the increase in tourneys. In tourneys you are trying to win, and in trying to win you need to rely on your best units. If one of your best units is good then multiples are better hence SPAM.

I first experienced this phenomenon in M:TG. In every 60 card constructed tourney deck you had 9 slots of 4 cards that were all the same. So a deck would look like this:

4x Lightning Bolt
4x Fireball
4x Shock
etc...

or to redo this in spam terms
4x spam 1
4x spam 2
4x spam 3

SPAM is prevalent in any game you can customize your side versus your opponents side.

I just stumbled into this thread, and I only had one thought: That I am very angry that baked beans got lumped into the same category as spam.
