Simple question, would the guard have use for a HAZMAT team? Seems like there would be a number of hazardous environments in the universe. Would a team in HAZMAT suites be out of place then? I ask because of my recent play through of BlOps, with Rebirth island having many a hazmat unit on it. So dakka, dose the IG use any HAZMAT teams?

I don't think so, why would they care about men dying from exposure. The answer to your men dying from hazardous environments is always the same...

More men...and...Charge!

That being said, some sweet converted MOP suits would look very cool!

I mostly agree with Jihadnik, but I can see some armies having a few hazmat units.

Officer: Commissar we've lost 10,000 troops due to high radiation levels.
Commissar: Send 5,000 more; if their faith in the Emperor isn't strong enough then we'll bring in the 51st Harzardous Material Specialist.

I was thinking of having a squad of either vets or Storm troopers acting as a "HAZMAT" unit. Using steel legion painted up yellow or orange. Acting independent, they would be something like an "infestation" counter. With flamers and meltas for burning things out deemed hazardous to the rest of the troops. Chaos shrines, ork pods, nid infested areas, stuff that could corrupt other troopers.

No I see the Chem Dogs being reborn fron the old codexs for Chem Suited IG. Even the old Steel Legion too or Death Korps of Krieg all Inviro suited troops. Even some Troopers from Forge World.

Chaos rules you all drool! Blood for the Blood God!
10,000 pts Black Legion
2,000 pts Traitor Catchian Guard (1067th).

That would be expensive for a squad of 10. I was thinking of just using some of the Steel Legion, with their coats painted a yellow or orange. Maybe some other bits aswell. It seems like the cheaper option.

If you end up wanting to go further with the Hazmat theme, consider a hellhound, "Cleanse and burn!"

"He was already dead when I killed him!"

York/London(for weekends) oh for the glory of the british rail industry

The problem with the idea is that modern warfare style doesn't compare to 40K warfare, its like comparing roman cohorts to the marines in iraq.

What is a hazmat team gonna do that is so important? the commander isn't going to go ''well there is a small pocket of land with some bioweapon debris, lets spend a good few hours cleaning it up'', this would then be followed by ''sir i know you are busy preping the hazmat squad but 6 carnifixs have broken through and killed all our troops''

For the most part a hazmat team would be a waste of time and resources. If a world is toxic or overwise dangerous, they give the entire army gear to protect themselves, like armageddon, krieg or forgeworld troops.

Relictors: 1500pts

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

DKOK are pretty much a hazmat army, arent they? Same goes for Armageddon steel legion.
