What was the best way to use it? For CSM, it was a hundred points of upgrades maximum for anything.... Terminator aspiring champions with chainfists and master crafted power weapons were in my grasp..... Raptor champions with master crafted power fists...Anything!

It made everything so much more customizable, especially for the CSM. Daemonic Gifts basically allowed you to rearrage the stats of anything with access to the armoury, and gave a wider range of combinations and customizations. However some of the stuff were confusing as hell for beginners.

Tough, I say, if you can't handle some stat changes go play vanilla marines. Csm should be heavily modded, if they can't find some good kit after millenias of war then what's the point?
Grrrr...

The infamous Winged Daemon prince with Dread Axe and all of the Daemonic Gifts Stat modifiers. You basically had a 5-6 attack MC that ignores all saves, a 2+ armor save, 5+ invul save, flies, and had S and T6. My fav was the Khorne Prince with Berserker Glaive and FnP. same stats as the prince above, but with +3 attack in exachange for allowing invul saves.

Artificer Armor for all my veterans, My army was rigged because no matter what they just cut a slew through my enemy with using power swords and powerfists and killing everything its path. I miss it :(
Also scouts armed with terminator armor and a sniper rifle was fun too.

Two Lightning Claws, Jump pack, and Artificer Armor. Raging skull-face of death flying about, especially consolidating into combat rule.

Chaplain Xavier always had a Thunder hammer, and the Chaplain's Crozius is basically a power mace (a kind of hammer...kinda).

Still have the armoury section, but that's because I play WH.
Lets me do fun stuff like throw a Book of St. Lucius on every unit so they act as stubborn.
As for Eldar I didn't play them back when they had that section, but I'm sure like all the other books with an armoury, it allowed them to do some pretty interesting things.

Eldar didnt have as much options as the other races actually. In fact the Farseer and Warlock's options didnt change at all (at least, not effect wise), and they were the only ones who had access to the armoury. The only thing changed was the price.

I miss collar of Khorne, feel no pain, dread axe, demonic strength prince. I can't rem the rest of the upgrades I gave him but man he chewed up any HQ the ONLY hq that ever gave him a hard time was stupid C'tan lol but back then I would just throw a squad of possessed into him with rending to take him down.
I rem people getting mad when they found out you got no saves Vs him. I took down. (in different games mind you)
Grey knight grandmaster killing him first round. then his squad next turn.
5 man Terminator squad killing them before they even got to attack
Spaceworlf HQ (can't rem the guy but he had wolves with him some SC) killed him first round
killed a hive tyrant first turn.
Basically nothing could touch him except railguns and C'tan lol

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood. |
