Subject: Chosen, how do they die ?

Every time I see a Chosen I wonder how anyone could match 1v1 with it. Its built like a truck, the armour is extremely thick, and their huge !
How is it possible to kill these things 1v1 ?

They are mortals all the same. Their armor has weankesses, they bleed beneath their defiled flesh. Perhaps the Changer has seen fit to put an end to their lives as they are no longer of use.
Southling men dare not fight them 1 on 1. Only the ageless skill of the elves, or the sorcery of the Winds truly stand up to them.
The Chosen live as long as their god has use of them. No more, no less.

Hey shadow,
You might want to reply to a few threads rather than just starting new ones! But to answer your question, Chosen are some of the hardest to kill models in the game when buffed by warshrines (and ending up with a 3+ ward when done craftily!).
However, 1on1 they wouldn't be nearly so tough... I'd take a single troll vs. a chosen any day

Plus even chaos doesn't get things all its way. Their mortal champions can and do get destroyed. But yes if your fighting 1 on 1 with a chosen you doing the fight wrong I would say!

what about the chaos units in this video ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3pOljQqvX8
Are they chaos chosen as well? If not, then how do these guys even die? I understand that the elf at the end destroys them but im talking about against a human solider. I don't see any spots where they could be stabbed.

those are Warriors, not Chosen, chosen have mutations, glow, stand a foot taller than other people or some such. also you see a swordman on the ground stab upwards and under the chest plate of a warrior. these are trained soldiers so they know they can't just swing at the plate armour and get through, Men-at-Arms and Flagellants need a 5+ to hit them (Warriors and Chosen) for example. Chosen could just be lucky, maybe bloodily determined or supernaturally empowered, that every time they hit thier pain threshold they live to fight another day.
but yeah, theoretically they they're still as mortal as any beast of a man, not as mortal as most men of course.

It's probably important to know that there aren't alot of chosen in each army, as they're the elite of the force. So while the bulk of the army are made up of marauders and beastmen which will be up against the generic swords/spearmen of the army, the chosen will be getting taken down by cavalry charges, concentrated cannon fire, captains and generals on griffons, or shot at by pistoliers/handgunners.
1 on 1, the chosen are more than a match for any Empire unit, but the Empire wins battles by co-ordination and tactics overall.

Someone needs to tell this gentleman about the unit Mad-Hat tribe of forest Goblins that (Circa White Dwarf 100) took down a unit of chosen chaos warriors through attrition wether too lucky to die, or too stupid to run, the batrep was beyond amazing and quite possibly one of the funniest reads ever.
Anyone can kill a chosen 1on1 including a small child. He just has to be really, really lucky.

Ok well lets say that an army of Empire warriors face off against an army of chaos warriors? How would the result be ?

Your a little vague. The empire doesn't have proper warriors any more. They have knights and professional soldiers. But not warriors. Their main strength is their tactics and use of technology mixed with flexibility. Plus you leave out numbers, armaments and all sorts of other factors that would be critical. One on one you a chosen can fight most things and win. But that's unrealistic in most circumstances that this would happen. As I said earlier if your fighting chosen on equal terms your doing something wrong.

No problem! It's part of the fun exploring it. Sorry if I came off as harsh. Against a chosen I guess your average mortal stands little chance. But due to how elite and few in number chosen are thankfully. They can get killed off by attrition/artillery/big monsters and what others have listed.

For their cost they're damn good. As for lore-type stuff, I still think for sheer awesome it still doesn't get much better than a Giant.
"So I saw the battle between Elchyon the Disgusting and his Army of Filth vs. Mongo. I ain't never seen so many sets of armor, they didn't shine, they seemed to absorb the sunlight. When they walked, each took a step at the exact same time. Ooze and ichor flowed from the seems in their armor. The very birds stopped singing around them."
"What did Mongo do when he saw them?"
"Shoved them in his pants."

I look at that cinematic and I wonder how they signed off on the stiff, lifeless animations of the Ultramarines movie. Why not point to that video and say "That. In space."
But as to the OP's question - hammers, mauls and other blunt force instruments were always particularly nasty against heavily armored units in melee because the armor couldn't do much to stop the concussive force of the blow. Spears and swords may glance off the plate, but hammers often broke bones or crushed limbs INSIDE the armor.
So I would have to say an orc with a big honking stick would be the best bet.

Vampires!
No matter how well-armoured you are, you're going to lose eventually to an army that can instantly resurrect their dead.
Not to mention, strong vampires, like the Von Carsteins, were some of the strongest individuals in the Warhammer world, only killed due to their own arrogance.
Except Konrad. He was just beat badly.
