I'm starting an emperors children army list, and I keep hearing a lot of hype about this ability, I can understand it comes in handy, but I don't see what all the fuss is about.
So I pretty much just want to know how it can best be used, what tactics it's good to combine with and pretty much just why it's so great!
THANKS!

Usually what people try to do is lash a squad into something that is easily covered by a pie plate, or lash them into charge range of something else, etc.
It's not bad, but it's hardly the end-all be-all strategy for CSM, just another useful tool IN THE BEST CHAOS CODEX EVER PRINTED, SUCK IT*!

Used in the right situation, with other units backing it up properly it can be devastating. no joke...if you don't put it in a situation where that will happen, it's useless.
I never understood all the fuss either.

Awesome Autarch

When lash works it is game winning. When it doesn't work, the guy using it is still useful. A lash prince/sorcerer is just a great HQ choice.

Lurking Gaunt
Out of my mind, back in 5 minutes.
|
1. Bringing units into charge range - your princes really want to kill stuff.
2. Bringing units out of cover - to get shot OR charged. Where's your 2+ cover save now?
3. Clumping up units for blast/template weapons - plasma cannons anyone?
4. Keeping slow, dangerous units away from you - Meganobz hate lash.
5. Moving units off of objectives - nothing ruins your day like having your troops just walk away from the objective at the bottom of turn 7.
6. Moving protective units out of the way - cheap expendable unit giving cover to the units behind it? Not any more! Shoot and/or charge what YOU want, not what your enemy wants.
7. Removing "bubble wrap" units - Get to the juicy steel center inside of that guard wrapped nugget.
There are many uses, these are the ones I pulled off the top of my head in 5 minutes.

Lash + Doom Siren = GG.
However it's all in theory. Most likely either your Doomsiren squad is going to lag behind, OR the opponent sees it coming and blows the DP or sorceror to hell before it can happen.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do. |
