So I owe my opponent a game where we make each other's lists. My army is Orks, his army is Tau. The catch is he can make my whole list and I can only make a third of his list, leaving me 500 pnts. to do the worst and most pointelss things I can possibly do to his list. What would you do dakka?

Ethereal. Or better yet the pope. Thats about as bad as you can do to his army. Go right for the Ethereal no matter the costs. That way he gets that AWESOME special rule the Ethereals give to Tau

What about an Ethereal. Then I spend all the rest of the points filling up as many troop slots as possible so he can not get that many Kroot. I can fill out all his troops slots with 6 FW each with points to spare! Now, what to do with the rest..

It will be difficult for you no matter what you do. The fact he can completely tailor your list makes its so difficult for you to win. Prepare for full units of Flashgitz with no transport and all the overpriced upgrades. Min sized squads of boys with no nob or transport. Weirdboyz... ugh


Not sure how it will work for you doing 500 of his. Can he use the 1000 he has control over to make your selections less bad? Like, since you took an ethreal, can he use his points to give him a retinue of firewarriors? If you take min sized FW squads, can he at least bond them? If not, then your plan sounds good. If so, you might want to limit his ability to take good units in other places. I dunno, the whole thing is a bit weird.

Make 3 teams of gundrones for fast attack or something simmilar stupid like vespids

Im not saying itll be easy, but he would be incredibly surprised at how much ass kicking FlashGits can do. Their only real problem is they are expensive for what they do. All he needs is a good AP roll and those Tau are going to fold like a card house

Ethereals are alright, they stop your bubblewrap running off, and basically just keep your gak together. If he dies, yeah, thats tough, but he should never get killed, if he does, you've probably lost already.

But yeah, fill up his elite slots with stealthsuits. GG.

I can't give any help nor insight what to take as i know like nothing about Tau

But i must admit this game really sounds fun great idea. Please OP, please! Make a Battle Rapport about this! Or give me a PM about it i really want to know how it will end and turn out! This idea really made me curious! Also that Orks and Tau are really Xeno counter parts.

Stealth suits can pump a decent amount of shots out. Where as an Ethereal doesnt really do anything (they can use his LD for tests though right? Dammit I need to find their codex lol) but the thing you want to do is kill him off, because then the Tau get that army wide LD test from his death. So units will run, and the ones that stay have nothing to look forward to but CC with Orks. And as an Ork player, I like those odds

I've considered this before with a couple of buddies, building eachother the shittiest lists possible then playing eachother with them

Gun drones. They suck.

The ethreal. Because the entire army taking a leadership test on LD7 is gonna Muff up his day.

Sniper teams if you have the points. That way you can take away Heavy Support slots from his Hammerheads and Broadsides.

Plus the min Firewarrior idea is great.

Fill up his Elite and Heavy slots with minimum sized completely useless Stealth Suit and Sniper drone teams. That way he can't even take the best units in the codex (Crisis & Broadside suits)

Not necessarily, because Kroot are immune to the Price of Failure special rule iirc

Yeah, the way to go about this is to load his army with utterly useless suits (other than perhaps the space pope).

Do NOT give him stealth suits. Those things are MEAN against hordes when used correctly.

1 Warboss

2 units of 7 nobs (take that mob rule)

6 units of 10 boys w/ sluggas/choppas (take that mob rule again)

3 deffkoptas, separate units

3 killa-kans with big shootas

2 battle wagons with everything:
minus a ram
minus a ard case
+lobba
+4 shootas

comes out to 1500 on the dot

Ick.

There's still a lot in the list, though, so it could still be done.

If you want to make a shoddy Ork list just take a Weirdboy (not a Warp'ead) as the HQ, tons of Grots as Troops and then fill up the rest of the list with whatever you like.

Too bad the ork player has next to no grots. He has a weirdboy, I but I figured he would be a more dangerous HQ than a warboss...

He has:
2 b-wagons
2 warbosses
1 weirdboy
60 some boys
17 nobs or so
a painboy
about 10 kommandos
3 kans
6 deffkoptas
10 grots

that's about all that comes to mind...

Man, this weekend will be a odd series of games. Not only this one, but I am playing ninja-CC Tau against an Eldar player for the fun of it...

Yeah... there has to be a limit to this kind of madness!

I like the idea of splitting the force organization chart in two, and you can only use half of your opponents force-org chart, that way I would lose my HQ, elites, and heavy support, only half of them...

I really wish the ork player had grots... oh well. It should be decently easy to get rid of the boys and nobs as is.


The ork player decided to go nice, and he got an etherial, and then got 6 minimum fire warrior units to run off of the table, and with the spare points he got 8 gun drones. He was being nice!

Why would you give him deffrolla battlewagons? WHY?!?

Because I was planning blowing up every vehicle turn 1.

I have 4 railgun and 20 S7 from the missile pods. Vehicles = history.

Not to mention, it's open topped lol, so railguns get +2 one the penetration chart!
