I was discussing with a war gaming buddy of mine if he was cool if I designed a Chaos crusade army, using the Black Templar codex with suitable changes (Sorcerers being hacked to death before hand, and Khorne berserkers, Khorne berserkers everywhere)
Wondering whats the general opinion on this, would you think its both legal AND fluffy, since I plan on getting down details of the campaign and making stories and so on out of this. A Khorne Lord leading a crusade seems a very fitting way to do a campaign.

I think it's probably more fluffy than using the Chaos Codex or even the BTs themselves. Think about it, berserkers charge mindlessly into enemy ranks pistols ablaze, disregarding their own casualties. Scouts can be Blood Pact troopers, and the Berserker ruthlessly uses them as meatshields. The Emp Champion can be a chosen of Khorne. Choose Abhor The Witch and it's very fluffy for Khorne. EDIT: also, the Black Sword basically is a Daemon Weapon. In the last edition of the Chaos Codex there was the Dark Blade, which granted the exact same benefits as the Black Sword.

Yeah, I think that would be totally awesome. Fluffy and likely more competitive then the C: CSM.
Chaplains would be Cult Leaders? with their fanatic Cenobites.
Make sure to rename the vows into suitably Khorne Themed names.

Chaplains are even more fluffy in terms of in-game ability. Litanies of Hate fit very well for something of a berserk rage aura.

Mecha- thanks for your feed back and yeah, Emperor champion will just be ' Champion of slaughter' (subtle DoC codex reference...)
Chaplain will just be a converted chaplain, renamed to somthing suitable (not a dark apostle.. I want this to be relatively Khorne heavy), and it'll give me an excuse to descerate...I mean convert the ever lovely and beauitful chaplain terminator model.
Any thoughts of distinctions between Zerkers/ normal CSMs? As in who counts as who.

No dark apostles? Grrrr... I'd call you a heretic but that'd be kind of pointless.

Do you need normal CSM in the army? It could just be a whole Zerker warband.
If you do need some distinction, then the CSM can just be the heavy weapons and special weapon guys in the squad, as zerkers only use pistols and chainaxes.

Having Khrone Bezerkers as Initiates and Blood Pact as Neophytes is a truly awesome idea.
A Chaplain could be re-named to Skull-Father or something like that, as it fits in with the Khorne theme whilst also retaining a religious undetone (priests, bishops and whatnot are commonly called 'father' by the congregation).
