My wife (who is wonderful) as she is watching me type this was commenting that she didnt think many married people would be playing 40k. She never breaks my balls about playing, so this is not for ammo in a futcher argument but more out of currosity

I am married with a child (and one more on the way). My wife doesn't play (and thinks I'm crazy for playing) but she gives me usually two nights a week to stay up late, sleep in late and hang out with the younger kids to play.

I may not have a whole lot of time for anything but a game or two a week (I feel accomplished if I get one model painted in two weeks) but it's still a fun hobby.

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood.

You guys are pretty blessed to have awsome wives and girlfreind. I will never be able to get my wife to play but she appericates the game as one of my interests and as long as i am still there for my share of diapers we are good.

You might want to add a "not married" option, otherwise you won't be able to estimate the proportion of users who are married.

Not married but my girl enjoys watching me play sometimes, hanging out at the GW. She has an interest in fantasy battle a LOTR but she is more of a Dungeons and Dragons person, the idea of building and painting all these models puts her off.

I am blessed to have a wife that accepts my computer, card and tabletop gaming. She doesn't play 40K but she accepts that I enjoy it. I have two kids and can't wait for either one of them to be old enough to join me.

Formerly married.. and yes, the games I play were a contributing factor in that situation. The EX would get insanely jealous of me trying to play even one day a week, but of course I had to take interest in her myriad and sundry "hobbies".
She even accompanied me to a day of gaming, saw the (then) severe lack of female players, listened to some of the conversation.... and quickly got bored and wanted to leave, with me, while I was in the middle of a game.

Much happier now, though I am a bit rusty and currently rebuilding/painting my armies.

Not married... yet. No definite plans, at the time, but I've been with my girlfriend for ~4 years, now (twice as long as I've been around the hobby) and we're headed in that direction. A lack of time and money are the only things that get in the way of my hobbies. I'm sure I've bored her to tears when I get really excited about something too specific and nerdy and can't shut up about it, but she's generally supportive and passingly interested in A) the artistic side and B) whatever it is that I'm so interested in, at the moment.

My wife always plans things on my gaming day. When every I go out to game her family thinks i'm cheating and they drive her crazy, so it's not really her fault.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Not married, but dating long enough that the plans are in motion (6+ years). She is getting into 40k mainly because she loves to paint, but she enjoys the game. She also plays Firestorm Armada because we both love sci-fi spaceship battles (who doesn't!?).

She is also an amazing painter...makes my models look like a 2-year old painted them...so bitter, lawlz.

Yeah, mondays for the longest time were my wife's "guilty pleasure" night. She could watch reruns of Desperate Housewives and Bones and not feel like she had to make sure no one was knowing that she was watching Desperate Houswives and Bones. She still hates herself for liking the former of those two...

So, my wife had an avowed no interest whatsoever in 40k, and had a vaguely active dislike when we first got married. Then I got her to start playing video games and other nerd games like Dominion and a brief stint in D&D. One long, boring night when the power was out, she even relented to playing a couple of like 50 point games with me on the kitchen table.

I told her a week ago that I was starting to become interested in starting a second army. She casually dropped the question "would it be fun to play against your guard army?".

I nearly wept.

I feel like a lot of people voting are too young to be married and skews the number.

19 is too young to be married for me at least , but when the day comes I could still see myself playing. I have a great girlfriend right now who doesn't want anything to do with the game but has no problem with me playing it. Thats all a nerd like me can ask for
