Ok so some of you may have seen a few of my posts concerning Word Bearers well I'm not exactly doing a traditional Word Bearers force I'm doing a splinter warband called the Disciples of Lorgar. They believe that the 4 gods are just differant aspects of a greater entity (like the Eldar and how the differant Aspects represent a differant part of Khaine) that is Chaos instead of being seperate powers.

Now it woulden't be a Word Bearers force if it didn't have daemons in it and of course this means a Greater Daemon. Now the thing is I don't want to use ANY of the existing daemons in any recognisable way. So I don't want someone to look at my Daemons or Greater Daemons and be able to say "that's a Blood Letter, That's a Lord of Change" etc. In short I don't want my daemons to represent any of the gods.

However I do really like the way the daemons from the Darksiders game where represented and would like to do something similar, I will try to find pictures but I'd like to do something close to the Shadow Legion for my normal daemons (humanoid daemons with wing stumps) and either something like one of the Fallen or Sammael (these are not referances to the DA) for my Greater Daemon. Now for my Greater Daemon I'm pretty sure I'll be using the plasic DP as a base for most of the model but I'm open to any suggestions anyone would have concering both the Lesser and Greater Daemons.

Oh and I'm not going to be doing the whole random mutation, claws coming out of the forehead and eyes coming out of the back type of thing. My Daemons will be fairly uniform in their appearance with maybe some differant weapons and pieces of armor. Thanks

Awesome call on Darksiders style daemons!!. I also have a Word Bearers force and I am so tempted to redo my DP like Sammael now, I loved his character in the game. You could base your greater demons on the bosses such as Tiamat and the Stygian. Nids would be a great starting point or maybe something like dragon ogres for the bigger daemons. Personally I use Crypt Ghouls and possessed Cadian Guard for my lesser daemons but I don't think that would fit the design you are going for.

Oh the Jailer from Darksiders would make a Cool Nurgle Greater Daemon and would be pretty fun to build too.

A bit off topic but Sammaels voice in the game is played by one of the actors from Mad Max 2. He was the 2nd in command biker with the mohawk that went crazy mad after every little thing that happened

Anyway I've always thought that alot of the Darksiders demons would transfer well into Chaos and if I wanted I could do a lot of "counts as" daemons based off of Darksiders enemies so for instance I could represent a Chaos Sorcerer with say wings and the mark of Tzeentch like a Caster from the game (snake bodies, horns, 4 arms and floated) use the Tyranid Ravener tail with some differant bits.

Obliterators could be like the Shadow Legion champions with the huge cannons, Spawn as Minions (the fast hound like ones) that could be a mix of gaunts/ghouls etc.

Noise Marines as the Banshees, Plague Marines as those corpse things that explode when you kill them, a dread could be the Growler or whatever it's called (the chubby demon dragons) or a Trauma, the Jailer would be a good DP or Greater Daemon but it's too Nurgleish and I don't want to directly represent the gods you know?

But I'm just focusing on the Shadow Legion and Fallen for me Greater and Lesser Daemons for now I may go back and do more later for Apocalypse (take a Mawloc and represent it like the Stygian ).

I had an idea, what if I combined Blood Letters and WHFB Beastmen to make the lesser daemons with some armor and GS work? I want the models to be inspired off of Darksiders but they don't have to be exact matches.

Look at some of the old monster models from the 70s my uncle gave me one a while back and we use it as a Bloodthirster in apoc.

I would never have guessed it was the Mad Max guy's voice!

I like the sound of bloodletters and beastmen,

For the Fallen how about Gulavhar The Terror of Arnor. He is a cool looking demon from the Lord of The Rings GW range and he looks pretty close to The Fallen. Could be a good starting point.

Minions made from gaunts and ghouls would look pretty badass and would be easy to make loads pretty cheaply. I just had a mad idea of using bloodletter bodies on all fours with nid heads and tails!! I also thought of the old DE Warp Beasts but dunno how many you would want cos they could be hard to get hold of.

If you were feeling inspired and are happy to green stuff I reckon ogre ironguts could be good starting points for some of the larger demons and they have some nice big weapons too.

I thought that you could use the Watcher as a Sorceror, I am really tempted to make A watcher for my Word Bearers now out of one of the new DE Mandrakes and some green stuff!

You need to post some pics when you get things started as I think you are on to a great theme here!

Eh I don't think the Watcher would be a good sorceror, Vulgrim would be better IMHO

Ok so I found some of the concept images so everyone who hasen't played the game can know what is being talked about.

Here are the Phantom Guard that I want to base my lesser daemons off of (I know I said Shadow Legion before, sue me )

Here is a full body model

Here is a Fallen which I'm basing my Greater Daemon off of minus the wings

And here is a concept of Sammael which could be another source for a Greater Daemon
