Hello all. I've owned dark elves for about 6 years now. I got them fully painted to a horrid quality about 4 years ago and then I stopped playing. (I went to 40k) Now with 8th edition starting up I've got them back out and dusted them off and stripped all of them. (I don't think I have any pictures of the old paint jobs) I've converted a lot of the units I didn't like the look of and primed and have started painting like a mad man. I've got a big fantasy tournament coming up at the end of the month. It's 2500 comped, sports and paint with no Special characters. (not that dark elves really have any abusive ones)

Heres my list:
Dread lord on peg, survivy stubborn kind
lvl 4 sorce with metal
Hag bsb COB
20 rxb
20 rxb
40 spears
5 harpies
5 harpies
6 shades
20 black guard
6 cok's
Mr. hydra

What I think is a decent tourny not over the top list.

Anywho to the painting. I've painted everything except 20 rxb's, 10x harpies, 40x shields and the dreadlord (peg is done)

I was told my dark elves were very 'dark' and exact quote from a guy at the game store. Being an artist I am very influenced by the artwork of warhammer and I painted my army wholly around a piece of art in the 8th ed rule book. (pg. 210 of the large rule book) I love that Painting and want to paint a high elf army up one day exactly as they appear in the painting. So that will hopefully explain some of my super neutral color pallet on my guys and the dark armor I have them in.

With only 2 weekish to complete the army I'll be mad dashing to finish up what I have left. I don't have pictures of everything yet but I'll post what I have so far.

Sorceress

Cauldron of Blood

Spearmen (only 20)

Mr. Hydra (no handlers)

I have a lot more painted now but have yet to take photos of the rest. I've also painted a couple things I don't run in my current list but I wanted to paint them to break up the monotony of 1000 rank and files.

Dragon Dreadlord

Bolt throwers

Cold one Chariot (riderless edition)

Here is a horse I painted up and am pretty proud of but have nothign to use him for yet... haha I think I just wanted to paint a horse.

I'll try and get a picture of the shades, crossbows, full unit of spears, black guard and cold one riders some time soon.

I couldn't agree more. Sometimes you just gotta paint a horse. Looks very nice!

I like Dark Elves quite a bit myself. They're looking really good so far. Would like to see more.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I went out today and got a lot better pictures of all my stuff. I also photographed everything I have completed so far. Without further a due...

Dreadlord Dragon

Dreadlord Dark Pegasus (minus the Dreadlord)

Supreme Sorceress

Death Hag Cauldron of blood

Spearmen 40x (10 don't have their shields yet)

My whole army is on magnetized movement trays.

Repeater Crossbowmen 20x (10 still don't have shields)

Black Guard (still need to clear coat and snow the bases)

My black guard unit filler. I only own 18 and didn't feel like dropping 25 dollars on 2 guys. I gave him a black eye for fun! :p

Shades

Cold One Knights

Bolt Thrower

Mr. Hydra (The blood turned out nice this time. It looked a bit lame in the previous pictures.)

A collection of other stuff thats half complete. A horse, cold one chariot and 2x assassins.

The inspiration for my basing came from when it snowed. I took a bunch of reference shots to know exactly what patchy snow looked like to help keep my basing accurate.

Here is my display Board I made using insulation foam, cork board, sand and cork. I painted it with a variety of spray paints. Then based it with static grass and snow.

Here is all my painted models displayed on the 90% completed board. I'm not running the 2x bolt thrower or the dragon I just set them up there to look cool!

Wow that took a while. Well anywho I have two weeks to paint 10 harpies, 20 RxB's, a Dreadlord and 40 shields. I hope I can get it all done. Thanks for the comments.

That looks fantastic. Is there a Mrs Hydra?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
