Army Profile - Orks - 'Ead Manglers Ladz

The Warboss currently known as the 'Ead Mangler was a former Nob bodyguard of his former Warboss Gutrippa. The 'Ead Mangler had often eyed up the Warbosses position, but never made an attempt to challenge the former Warboss like other Nobz, who often got a good beating and then a Squig brain transplant as punishment for being a traitorous Greenskin. Though 'Ead Mangler isn't his original name, that was lost when the 'Ead Mangler was reborn. His name arrived at his unusual tactic of giving some dissplin' to the Boyz!

Warboss Gutrippa loved to battle the Space Wolves legion. The Warboss just love their animalistic approach and often tried to lead Waaaghs! to Fenris itself, though this Waaaghs! only made it as far into the local system. Unfortunately for Gutrippa his love of bashing Space Wolves would be his undoing. Gutrippa and his Nobz charged forward into battle only to be challenged by a powerful Space Wolf psyker in a bulk terminator armour suit. Gutrippa bellowed a challenge back and roared ahead, the Space Wolf master Librarian known only as the Storm Shouter by the Orks (as he shouted a lot and storms appeared) unleashed his powers calling down razor hail to slice into the Orks skin, powerful winds which would blow Trukks to pieces and lashes of rain which would turn the ground into mud, which Boy would sink in before being cut down by a hail of bolter and chainsword. Gutrippa attacked the Storm Caller and in a twist of irony had his own gut slashed to pieces, Gutrippa lay in a bloody ruin but still alive, he called forth his Nobz to extact revenge. In reply the Storm Shouter unleash a violent lightning storm on the Nobz and Gutrippa. Gutrippa was charred to a smoking ruin while 'Ead Mangler was blasted into ruin and fell down the mountain side.

The 'Ead Mangler awoke in the snow and had suffered massive damage at the hands of the Storm Caller. Slowly but surely the Nob made his way back towards Ork controlled areas; on his route the 'Ead Mangler picked up a ride from Mek Gubbins who had hijacked a Space Wolf Land Raider and returning to camp with his Loota followers.

The 'Ead Mangler immediately book himself a appointment with the local Painboy, lucky for him being a Nob allowed him to push through the queue, or probably just pushed through the queue anyway. The Mangler spent several days in surgery, part of his skull was replaced with a cybork skull cap, several times some fungus beer dripped onto the Manglers brain from the drunked Painboy. With his head cybork implants he was given a shiny red eye. Manglers left arm was also partially destroyed and the Painboy hardwired a whooping power klaw as a nice replacement, the Mangler was very happy. Busting out the Painboys surgery half drunk from the fungus beer spilled in his head the Mangler issued a challenge to any other Nob, the challenge was he was the boss now! Of course this didn't settle down with the other Nobz, which during Manglers surgery had been battling it out to see who would be fit to be the next Warboss. The Mangler took power klaw to all rival Nobz and received his new name; Orks do not fear death and the Mangler knew this, instead he would make the Boyz come to his rule by mutilating the heads of rival Nobz, crushing them in his power klaw but letting the Nob survive with shame and therefore the 'Ead Mangler was born.

Since the 'Ead Manglers taking over the mob no one is really sure what clan the 'Ead Mangler follows. The former Warboss was a Goff, though all Orks in the mob generally wear black not lack Goff glyphs are ever seen. To confuse matters more the 'Ead Mangler has a fleet of Battlewagons; the Mangler and his Orks just love going fast and ploughing over soft Humans and other weaklings with their deffrollas, it is thought they might be Speed Freaks, but really, no one is sure!

Big Mek Gubbins

When the Mangler risen in the mob the ever the opportunist Mek Gubbins approached and reasoned with 'Ead Mangler that he was he who helped him get back to the Ork camps and without his help he'd probably be with Gork (or Mork!) at this very moment. The Mangler thought about it, his power klaw twitching ready to mangle Gubbins head for being a cheeky runt when the Mangler had a thought. The Mangler "promoted" Gubbins to Big Mek after the previous Big Mek was "fired" (little fired in a Ork test shooting range by some mystery) on the basis he build him some quality Battlewagons.

Now with a fleet of Battlewagons at his so thought command Big Mek Gubbins is the chief Mek in the mob, you want anything he's your Ork. Not only had Gubbins built plenty of Battlewagons (and looted some thanks to his supporting mob of Lootas) he's also invented a force field which keeps those Battlewagons nice and shiny.

The Nobz

There's quite a few Nobz in the mob, though the Mangler keeps some of them down trodden, mostly the "lower" Nobz are the former bodyguard of Gutrippa and tend to shepard the Boyz around instead of beating up the "'ard ones" and are hardly found in Manglers hall drinking fungus beer and larking about. The other Nobz Mangler uses as his bodyguard, occasionaly they will help Big Mek Gubbins but some reward is always required.

There's three notable Nobz out of the bunch; the Krayz Twins and Da Mask.

Da Mask is a mentally unstable but powerful Nob, very strong and resilent, he even managed to stand a head crusing from the Mangler, this act has earned him some respect from the Mangler himself, though it's what probably sent Da Mask loony in the first place. The head crusing is also the reason why Da Mask wears a mask, so his partly mangled face isn't on show.

The Krayz Twins are two Nobz who veyr rarely hatched from the same spore. The Nobz are unseperable and when together a force to be reckoned with, it's rumoured even the Mangler would not be able to defeat both of them combined. In the Ork mob the Krayz are known as criminals; even to the Orks. They control protection rackets on lesser Orks, act as hitmen for lesser Orks wanting revenge on bigger Orks - this often proves popular with Gretchin. They also deal with stolen goods which puts Lootas to shame. It is rumoured they were once Storm Boyz as in their "buziness" they have a very controlled approach.

I like the colors, even though a bit muted for my taste. Maybe it's the lighting though. They all look good, it gives me some inspiration for my boyz. I like the fluff too, nice addition.

Thanks man. The Ork army I've been doing since the current codex come out and it's gone through numerous formations, though I eventually settled on Battlewagon spam and tweaked that from time to time. Finally I'm happy with it.

Board is done, buildings need finishing, got a few left to do.

I'm not a fan of bright green Orks, looks silly. Mine are catchacan green then washed devlan mud, the vehicles have been washed twice whle the Gretchin are foundation paint gretchin green with devlan mud.

The bases have been done with some modelling gravel (well most!) and then painted codex grey. Only thing I could do is add static grass and repaint them a bit more, nothing else really.
