I Love everything about the defiler , the massive belly cannon which rips marines limb from limb and the autocannon which makes guardsmen scream for help oh and dont forget the claws which loves picking up eldar "light bites" .

BUT I CANT STAND PAINTING THE HULL !

Why does this annoy me soo much !?!?!?

Because rather than a vehicle it is like painting a Giant space marine; the dullest things to paint in the hobby....

Will you send it back again afterwards though?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I'm working on one right now, and since I plan to get a second one, I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to do this. I assembled each of the legs, the torso, the weapons and the body separately. Then I primed (which was no small task in itself because of all the nooks and crannies).

The painting of all the little pistons and hoses is a bit of a task. I feel your pain.

Question: Has anyone built and painted a defiler and left off the mask? I like the guts behind the helmet/skull/demonhead.

vehicles are worse to paint because there is just to much more of it, which means it's more difficult, and it takes more time because of more detail.

With an infantry model, you can spend a weekend working on it, and you get a beautifully finished model. With a vehicle, you get more of the "I've been working on this since last June and it's STILL NOT DONE YET!" problem.

Of course... I just find that I am infinitely more productive when it comes to painting 'other' stuff as a form of procrastination from painting my BA army.

This is totally off the subject but , should i get a chaos vindacator or a normal one , because im gonna start angry marines or just get a dreadnought and a vindacator .

the chaos one might be iron warriors with black and yellow stripes on the sheild-scooper thingy , while the angry marines one will have a massive angry face on it

I'm the same I have a defiler all built and undercoated but I just keep looking at it and thinking it's going to be a to do.
I just end up playing with the poseable bits for a while then I leave it on my desk. I also have a rhino and predator to do but I hate painting vehicles.

Although after that rant I would personally get another defiler rather than a vindicator and dreadnought, since defilers kinda work like both anyway. I stick one on each flank and bombard stuff and If they get too close they get the claws! I do like dreadnoughts and mine have served me well but the berserk rule can hurt alot if they go mental near your own troops and unload everything they have twice.

Yeah thats the problem with dreadnoughts. But for the love of God dont use it as a body guard for your HQ, i had no idea about that rule and it took wounds 2 off my HQ in the first turn (he died shortly after). Thats why i will never field another dreadnought again (and that was my first ever battle).
