So I encountered this dilemma during the battle last week with my friend who uses Tau. I use Space Wolves.

So Blood Claws have this Berserk Charge rule that grants them a +2 Attack bonus when charging instead of the normal +1.

And the Photon Grenade negates the normal +1 Attack bonus of their foe when charging...

So does that mean Berserk Charge is all but useless when encountering fire warriors equipped with photon grenade?

the "gain no assault bonus attacks"

p.36

With that I would say you lose both. Unless wording in the dex overturns this.

Imperial Fists: 1st and 3rd Companies 4100 points

You lose both, as the +2 is your "bonus for charging", same as the Eversor (? from memory) gains +D6 normally would not do so when facing Defensive grenade equipped models.

Not that sad

I regularly keep these off my infantry squads since I want to be able to shoot you next turn, not be stuck in melee.

It's good to keep in mind however how useful defensive grenades are in certain situations.

Yes I'd agree with that, if you're creating an army and you know in advance what you're playing against then it might be useful sometimes.
