So while planning out my Tau army I want something different as a commander, I was thinking of using Commander Shadowsun only swapping out the weapons and a head and putting her on a larger base.
So do you think people would mind this in tournaments and in friendly games?

I don't really see why they would have a problem. Sure she is in different armour, but it isn't exactly stock stealth armour either.

This exactly my own plan for my Tau army. The Shadowsun model rocks, the rules not so much.

I had the same idea once too, Although I wanted to convert them from the Stealth Suits due to cheaper costs. As long as you make it about as tall as a normal XV8, it shouldnt be a problem.

Commander shadowsun can usually only be taken in armies over 1500? pts, with fancy not very good rules, she counts as your 1+ shas'la Go for it  I would, shadowsun is an awesome model, if there is a significant hieght difference get a bit of wire that goes to a normal suits eye level, then nobody can complain
