Just wondering which models you guys use to represent IG Stormtroopers. The actual Stormtrooper models from GW are rubbish, badly sculpted trash! I don't mean the Kasrkin by the way, those are some of the nicest minis GW has ever produced in my opinion.

Yeah the stormtrooper models are pretty rough looking....its like they just took random plates of metal and made armor out of it

I'm using a squad based off of the Panzer Cops from the Kereboros movies-specifically Jin Roh. They use the Cadian Shocktroopers as a base, but I've green stuffed on most of the features, and then made their LMGs out cut down Heavy Stubbers. They look alright, and are pretty different from the GW norm, whilst still looking suitably 40k-ish (only problem is they take ages to make ¬¬).

I like the old metal stormtroopers. The sculpts might be kinda lacking but I love the style.

I custom make my own stormtroopers. Greenstuff sculpted coats, pig iron kolony heads, greenstuff wrist and elbow armor, plasticard extra shoulder and waist and back armor. IG HWT backpacks.

Shouldn't this be in painting and modeling?

I use the old one's mostly to be differnt, but also i feel like they fit the theme of my army.

My camera's busted right now, but when I get a new one I'll be posting a blog over in the painting and modeling forum for the army-its guard arrmy that's ended up with models baed off of all the alternative history sci fis about the Nazis-though only the look, no insignia etc. Heh, and a Gekko from Metal Gear too. ^^

I use the classic Stormtroopers, the ones the OP refers to as "utter rubbish" "trash" and other things I disagree with.














A fun game is spotting where they used bits from the Space Marine kits though. The plasma gunner has one noticeably smaller hand holding the plasma gun which is just taken wholesale from the Marine kit. The sergeant's plasma pistol is the same deal.

Those look great! I think with the original ST it's all about getting the right color scheme and i think you nailed it! good job

It's mostly because they're hard to find and go for mad money on eBay.

I use the Kasrkin models; I have two goups of 5, one with plasma and one with melta. I only have one of the sword guys as i bought a box and 2 sw blisters, so to represent the sarge for each squad I am planning to paint two normal troopers as corporals with different markings. They can then still go into the big 10 man squad if I want to field it as I imagine that STs would have more than the average number of non-privates (not eunuchs).

I use Vostroyans as my storm troopers. I use Catachans for everything else, so they look sufficiently different from everything else on the table.

I was thinking of using Cadian bodies but getting some heads over at Pig Iron Minis. Havnt decided for sure, but I'd like to. I'm going to try female cadians for my vets tho.

These guys remind me of the Emperor's Sardikar troops from dune...

Were I an IG player, I'd probably use Space Marine Scouts with Elysian Droptroop Respirator Heads. I've but the head on the scout body before, and that looks pretty good. I've never tried putting a pair of Cadian lasgun arms on. I don't know if they'd fit, or if I'd have to convert scout arms to work.

Once the Grey Knights codex comes out, I may very well pick some up to use. Just snip some pieces off of the "flamer" that comes with those, and you've got yourself a pretty good looking meltagun.

Well, most probably the Kasrkin are the best choice for Stormtroopers, but the cost is getting worse and worse for those miniatures.

Does anyone know when we can expect new Stormtrooper sculpts? is it worth getting something specific sculpted...ala Scibor

These guys for me!

Karskins. My IG uses FW Cadian respirator heads, so the whole army has a nice unified feel. The Stormies don't have camo though, as they are used in a shock troop role. This, combined with the prominent red and blue power cabels, sets them apart enough to be special though.

I use Kasrkins. Will upload a picture of them when I get round to photographing my army.

I kinda like the normal stormtroopers. They would be best for Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, which Kasrkin don't suit at all.

For IG stormtroopers, Kasrkin are best.

Not sure why your asking tho...they are one of the worst units in 40k. Id rather grots.

There may be plastic storm troopers with GK anyway.
