They are both great games, but you should realize that Half Life 1 is a bit dated graphics wise. Half Life 2 still looks pretty good and the Orange Box is a worthy investment.
Now this isn't the end for Half Life 1. There is a fan community project that is using the source engine of Half Life 2 to recreate half Life 1 from the ground up. They have been working on this project for a while now and there is not a release date so it will come out when it comes out. I have been keeping tabs on it for a few years now and if you are interested in the series you should definitely check out the site:
Both of the Half-Life's are great. Besides the gameplay and physics (in HL2), what amazes me the most about this series is the depth of the storyline and the characters. Unfortunately, I'm not sure when (or if) Valve will release episode 3 :(
