So today is my sons birthday. Hes now 6. Ive been messing with him all day so far, telling him things like
"now that you have to count your age with 2 hands, I get to beat you both hands"
"Im glad your getting older, that means Im closer to not having to see your ugly face!"

Things of that nature. But he made me smile, and laugh when he told me
"Dad, Im 6, so in 2 birthdays, you can buy me my warhammer stuff!"
I told him on his 8th he can get his own start to 40k

aww, my son is seeing to his fifth birthday and he has a Space Marine already...get him his stuff now, look at Gitspitas son the one with the `nids...as long as he doesn´t want to play dark eldars all is good^^

MEQ armies are usually a good start for kids,fairly easy to paint and a forgiving army to learn with.
My boy fields a SM army,a chapter he "invented" himself called the Omega Raptors....and he's beat me several times already.

I agree on the MEQs point. Id honestly let him play whatever he picked out, so I just got lucky he wanted them

Yup,flipped upside down and painted red.

saves a lot of time and will probably look way cooler...then again i would fully understand if for such a small player he would go for a more smurfy look^^

I thought so as well , he basically came up with the idea for the color scheme himself off a Ninja costume he saw,and the name came from his love of velociraptors.

My eldest lad is Seven next Sunday, and due to him being that close, he recieved 1K of Necrons for Christmas just gone. I painted the army for him, and have let him know he can have a go painting his first proper army when he's about nine to ten.

He did make me smile though, as although he really likes his Necrons, he can't wait to have KAYYY-OSS! as he tends to growl it while bouncing about the room.

Well I foolishly told him years ago that when hes 8 he can chose an army. But the kid has his moms memory so he hasnt forgot. At least hes calling them Chaos now, it used to be BAAAD SPACE MARINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was actually caught out with my lad, for ages he seemed hooked on Necrons.

However he's been taking White Dwarf mags from the throne room (aka the Loo) for the past nine or so months to read in his room, and somewhere along the line he started to like Chaos Marines over Necrons, without telling me.

I had a Rodney Dangerfield moment with the neck tie when I had a hidden and painted Necron army and he mentioned the new info two weeks before Christmas.

Good job he still likes Necrons enough that it doesn't bother him he didn't get Chaos. Although he did explain to me on Christmas Day that although his Necron army was awesome, he'd be eventually getting a huge Chaos army, not long after seeing the Necrons.
