Subject: Heroic Intervention and Drop Pod

Hello people, im really confused here...
Vanguard Veteran squads (Space Marines) have a rule that say they can Assault in a turn where they deep strike (Heroic Intervention).
Drop pods say it is a Open-toped, and that units disembarking from it in a turn they Deep Strike via Drop Pod are treated as disembarking as if it have moved flat out.
Well, units can assault when disembarking from a open-toped flat out vehicle. The text on Drop Pods make it clear that a unit Deep Striking by him could not Assault, but that is described in each Deep Strike rule, anywhere, and the special habilitie of Vanguard clarify that they can assault when Deep Striking...
So, do the Drop Pod Assault rule prohibits Heroic Intervention? I think drop poding Heroic Interventions are pretty Heroic, and would sound very nice... But 3 Vanguard Squads in drop pods would do a lot of damage in the first turn with the Drop Pod Assault rule...
Sry if this a "obvious thing", i really could not see...

The Heroic Intervention rules require a jumppack.
If you have a jumppack, you may not enter vehicles nor buy a transport.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

If they're in a Drop Pod, Vanguard can't assault. Thing is, why would you even put them in a DP anyway? I suppose if you wanted accurate landings, but then they can't assault, so.....

The rules are a little bit in the Codex: SM and then in the RB and all that. And your reasons for HI working out of a DropPod are logical, but they are specifically contradicted, again, in the DP rules and the HI specifically mentions using JumpPacks.
IF anything, use your DP turn one. And bring the VanGuard in Reserve, using a homing beacon/thingy on the DP to guarantee the VG arrive safely so they can assault whatever is still near the DP.

If you wanted an accurate landing, couldn't you just Descent of Angels? Scatter D6", chances are you're not going to be far off target.

I didn't realize that was a rule in the Space Marines codex, haha. I don't play marines (neither myself or other peoples marines), I hate them so much I avoid it as much as possible, lol.

These folks have it down, the only way to make use of heroic intervention is by giving them jump packs. This can be further enhanced by providing homing beacons on as many units as possible so you have near complete control over your overcosted assault squad.
