Right, im confused, after working in industry and with workshop tools ive seen metal of many colours and veriaty, after reading through the 40k books, including old rule books, codex's imperial armours the've pretty much all mentioned "adamantium" being one of the strongest/toughest materials in the 40k universe, but they never truly mention its properties, or actual colour (color), so im just intrested in what people think would be the processed colour of this magical material, this isnt pertiucally, but please feel free to state your reasons
:edit: personally i think it would be kinda greenish in colour, i dont know why, i think it might be because of spending my youth playing runescape

i dont know why, but everytime i hear the word, im always thinking of oxidised copper o.o without any real magnetic properties because of extreamly high electrical resistance (10x10^15 ohms, or in that region)

I watched Inuyasha before hearing about adamantium, so my image of it is basically a silver-ish crystal type alloy. The titiular character in Inuyasha had something called "Adamant storm" or something as an attack. Cant remember it now, and it launches out a bunch of crystals. However I think the translators might have gotten it mixed with Diamond, since he did try to make some sort of present with it to give to a girl (you can probably guess how well that turned out).

Because of the claws of a certain x-man, I imagine Adamantium looks a lot like steel really. So gray-ish... can possibly be polished to a mirror like sheen.
I know 40K isn't the Marvel Universe, but it's hard to remove the image of adamantium being that way since I've been a comic book fan much longer than a 40k fan.

Yeah i suppose you would just think of it by how it looked first time you saw it. I think my first encounter was in one if the old final fantasies, maybe 4? I'm sure it was blue in that.

"Adamant" means "diamond" (sort of), so think carbon fullerene.

Seriously, just watch X-men 2: Mutants United. They have an entire vat of the stuff in liquid form. Interestingly enough, it looks kind of like my paint-pot of boltgun metal... -edit- I have been involved with x-men related material since I was 7 (now 25) and while the movies are not perfect representations, I picked a visual I thought most people would be familiar with involving the subject

Hmm, well I'm going to go with a mithril silver type color, given that GK do not paint their TDA, and it is described as silver. Isn't TDA adamantium? Or is it the shoulder pads/internal structure... I can't quite remember.

I think the chick in Fattimus_maximus's avatar is wearing an adamantium top . . . no other material would hold together. (who is that chick btw? )
but seriously . . . color change depending on light. If it indeed has to do with diamonds I immagine there would be a prismatic quality to the light reflected.

This. I first encountered it in X-Men around the age of 8 or 9, in 80s, and so I've always seen it as highly reflective steel/chrome in color.

Im a big fan of the dark dark green, with lighter green veins running through it, thats just how I view adamatium in its raw form.
Of course with SM's and their most holy armour spray cans, who knows? We may need to grab a gauss rifle and flay the paint off, one atom at a time.

Raw Adamantium? Beats me.
It's often mixed with Ceramite and plasteel though, leading me to believe it's a dull, tanish kind of color.

I'd say silver, I mean, look at a picture of Ghazghull Thraka painted by the eavy metal team, his admantium plated skull is silver (and don't say that in the 40k universe, his boyz painted it, goff colours (colors) are black and white)

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

This, I'd say it's a metallic grey/silver-ish colour, simply because the Grey Knights do not paint their armour. Literally ALL their stuff, including Dreadnoughts and Land Raiders, are unpainted. While this could very well be because either the ceramite or the thermo- plas layers are of that colour, I ignore that becasue I feel like it!
