Can Bjorn take a Drop Pod? I don't think he can....

The principle of using a bunch of Dreadnoughts to draw fire away from Bjorn kinda like a bodyguard is perfectly sound but it needs to be done at higher point levels, and usually not podding. At this level you are likely to just get melta'd the turn you come in.

Your two tiny scoring units are your weak point. Your opponent can just mass fire on them until they fail enough saves to be wiped out, then the best you can do is tie.

Never take extra weapons on Long Fang Pack Leaders. They are just a waste of points since your pack will likely just be using Fire Control due to your weapon setup. Also, all Missile Launchers is usually better than adding in Plasma.

Umm, 5 long fangs w/ 5 ML & a squad leader?

The squad leader can't take a heavy weapon so I think you mean 6 long fangs, 5 ML & 1 SL. Or write it as 5 Long Fangs, 1 Squad leader otherwise it looks like a 5 man squad.

I was planning/thinking about doing a similar army to this (Quite a while ago, and probably never will)...... I think you could probably make the overall list a bit better

I think its better without drop pods (your second list....) especially since Bjorn can't take one...
What I would probably do though, is have all ML on the long fangs (and if needed, drop one from each squad, if need points), have two TL AC dreads, and either a LC or Plasma cannon one.. I would then try to add 10-30 Fen Wolves (bit of a difference in number ) Just to maybe be a bit of a distraction from the rest of the army.. And maybe try to get the Grey Hunters Rhinos, even if they don't use them... (screen for the dreads?)

Well all in all it looks like stupid amounts of fun in my eyes! In all honesty, I would keep the other Dreads as standard to afford Rhinos for the Grey Hunters.

On the Long Fangs, I will say 2 Plasma Cannons is enough, the rest can afford to be missiles and maybe take 2 Lascannons to boost the Dreadnoughts. Plasma Cannons are boss as they can make people pick up Power Armor in droves.

Otherwise, fun and solid looking list for chilling with your mates. I'd like to see how 'Nids like that one!

Bjorn cannot take a Drop Pod because there is no entry under his rules that allows him to take a dedicated transport. It must say that he can take a dedicated transport for him to take a transport of any kind, and the Drop Pod must be listed as an option for him to be mounted in one.

Just because it does not say you can't do something, does not mean you can. 40k uses a permissive rules set (IE you may only do something if a rule says you may), not an exclusive rules set which allows you to do anything not specifically prohibited by the rules.

Eh...its spammy and less effective in my eyes. Drop some Missile Launcher Long Fangs for Lascannons on the Dreads that have AC's.

It can be $urderous, just play your cards right.

A unit can only take a drop pod if it is listed under the entry as a dedicated transport.

Now I have 50 points to spare, do I? get a land speeder with a heavy flamer, or give the grey hunters a power weapon and wolf standard each?

Dropping all the "others than missiles" weapons in the Long Fangs units you'll gain 50 points more.

Besides, exchangin' on only one Dread the actual setup for a cheaper and still effective TL Autocannon+ML you'll find 20 points more. Same on the 2 regular Dreads and you'll have 40 points more.

with 120/140 points you'll can take another 5x missiles long fangs unit (140), 2 HF/MM Land Speeders, 1x AC/LCs Predator (120) or even another one scoring unit, 5x Grey Hunters, Meltagun and HB Razorback (120).

The list looks fun. But I would consider whether the PC is the best possible weapon on the Ven.Dread. MotW on the GHs would also be nice.

As for the bold part, the answer is nowhere. But it doesnt say anywhere that he CAN take one. WH 40k uses a permissive rule set and such he can not take a Pod.

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

First of all I would like to apologize for starting a dead thread again but I didnt want to put the whole concept up again, I have bought the dreads and am now in the process of collecting missile launchers, which I am sure as most of you are aware it is fething almost impossible to do. I have built a few 'counts as' missile launcher guys but I have a few mates who are gonna swap me some bits. Any way this is what my final list looks like and bear in mind it is all for the fun of the game because quite frankly 4 dreads in a 1500 list was never gonna be a serious thing! so here goes
