Dont personally like that story very much, I read the books and they were ok but alot of aspects of them i hated particularly Arkio the blesseds transformation and widespread acceptance by the surviving Blood Angels of the Bellus expedition.
My personal favourite stories are of Tuska the demon killa and the saga of Ragnar Blackmane as told through the space wolf omnibuses

The space marine Garro from the death guard. I really enjoyed his personality and his friendliness to those who weren't marines.

Assuming GW don't go down the 'Dawn Blade is Daemon hurrrr' route, I can see him doing something cool in future. Like, 'Ethereals suck, Imperium sucks, Eldar are... alright I guess, let's all hold hands and be Communists together' cool.

Farsight is tremendously cool (. . . for a Tau). I really like Shadowsun but she'd be nothing without contrasting her to Farsight. Automatically Appended Next Post: Yriel is also awesome.

The /tg/ thing just makes him cooler. Also, read his fluff; Eldrad is a gigantic racist and eldar supremacist. Ergo, he's a d*ck. A cool character, but a d*ck.

Im seriously hoping Erebus is dead and that his end is a nasty one, I think it would be awesome if the Emperor disintegrates him with a thought just before his battle with Horus on the bridge of the vengeant spirit, Erebus will say something annoying about Chaos being the truth and the Emperor will kill him from 200 yards away with mind bullets.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Erebus is well and kicking in the 41st millenium. He heads the dark council with Kor phaeron and leads the legion in Lorgar's absence. You can't kill the Boss...who cares if the Emperor killed Horus the real boss is still kicking arse.

Kharn. He always was a pretty great guy...
(Those /tg/ fics are damn funny, but I'm also thinking of "After Desh'ea", from Tales of Heresy.)
Yriel of Iyanden is a pretty interesting character, and The Doom of Iyanden is one of the best parts of the Eldar backstory.
Ragnar Blackmane, at least in the first half of the Space Wolf series, and definitely his initial recruitment. There was a real drop in prose quality after they changed authors.
Finally, Sebastian Thor and Alicia Dominicia.

Scout Trooper "Ven" Mkvenner (or as me and my friends call him: Mk-kill a blood pact platoon and two wirewolf daemons with a fethin empty lasgun-venner)
I think the nickname speaks for itself, he's quite simply one of the most BA guardsmen alive....
yes, I said alive....

Inquisitor Jaq Draco is a very interesting character; from The Inquisition War. So much of his story was based on morality and the possible outcomes, clashing with his Inquisitor education.
Another character from the same book; Googol the Navigator, was also interesting. The Warp Eye Kills!

I think the Tau in general have a lot of promise fluff-wise, although some elements of grimdark are creeping into their fluff. Which is bad. We need at least one non-grimdark faction in 40k.

Yriel is also awesome.
Yriel lost an entire Eldar fleet and turned up just in time to save the last 5 people from Iyanden from being eaten. He is a big foppy space elf.

I second Sebastian Thor, especially given his considerably humble beginnings.
But I'd also say that it's the nameless characters, the humble guardsman, the mighty Space Marine...that one gretchin that always passes that cover save and holds the objective...
I think there was a 40k saying that went like this: "For every honour and laurel there are 1000 unsung heroes whose deeds go unrecognised."
