Subject: Which marine book to use?

Bounding Assault Marine

Does anyone see how it would be possible to use these marines for another book other then the vanilla marine book? I am familiar with the space marine codex; but i would like suggestions of what other book to use? I have every other marine codex to build the lists from. I just am not sure what about their strengths and weaknesses.
My random hero, would kantors rules fit this? Calgar?
Also, i have 4 plasma gunners, 2 plasma cannons, 1 multimelta guy, no idea where to put them into squads!

As long as they're wysiwyg use them for whatever Codex you want!
I say stick with C:SM though. It's the thinking man's Space Marine Codex.

Ultramarines do best using C:SM IMHO. It might not be as shiny or pretty as the new SW or BA codex', but its still a good one.

These guys look like Crimson Fists to me just from a glance. your troop and vehicle set up is well-suited to vanilla marines I think. You could always mess around with other codecies though and just find what play style you feel fits you.

Vanilla Codex sounds best for what you're trying to do.

With what you've got, I'd say stick with Vanilla Marines.

From looking at them, they'd work best as just a C:SM force.
But, feel free to playtest them as all sorts of different Marine forces and find what works best for your playstyle. Of course, for most other marine forces, you'll need to add a few models to the ones you've got.

NOT Dark Angels. It doesn't really have the hallmarks of the BT, SW, or BA so I would stick with the regular dex. Better with the pics. Second choice would be Wolves. Not enough Termies or Bikes for Dark Angels (unless you just like the fluff, greenwing is supposed to be like handicapping yourself though I've never had any issues with them in friendly games), no jumpy stuff for Blood Angels, third choice would be Black Templars, merely because I'm unfamiliar with them so I don't know if it would work or not.
C:SM seems to be the best choice.

I play Space Wolves and I'd say your troops don't fit it very well. I notice that you have lascannons/missile launchers in your Tac Squads, but Grey Hunters can't take them. I suppose you could just put them in a Long Fangs squad though.
Also, who's on the Bike?

Use it with whatever book you want to. That is the beauty of marines, you can use whatever codex you like so long as the models are WYSIWYG.
That gives you and your opponent the most variety and the most bang for your buck as you get multiple rules sets out of a single army.

From everyone's replies i plan to use codex space marines, i am also going to try to write a small list using possibly codex black templars.
@Andilus Greatsword
I found a single bike back from 3rd edition, decided to remodel it. I was originally going to put a chappy head on him, but decided a single chaplain without a squad is pretty useless. I think i am going to run it as a commander on bike with combi melta, melta bombs and power weapon. Sort of an over priced tank hunter with a little bit more versatility. His second use would be boosting around the board and helping other squads who are stuck in CC.
He still needs some work to be recognized as a commander, obviously WIP

haha ok cool I was just wondering if he was a Chaplain on a bike (like you said). He's pretty cool though, with some work he could be a pretty kick-ass supporter.

If those models are all you have, then it would make a horrible BT army. You would need to add a lot to it.

Its a lot of work, but a commander on a bike also unlocks bikes as troops, which is a powerful advantage of C: SM
