Named as such because of the glittering vampire effect...

I've been tinkering around with a glittery Krylon spray I got from along time ago for a Tau army. I've now applied the spray to some Space Marines, added in a Lava custom base and some simple paint work, and here are the results:

The Lava detail is probably the hardest part of the entire process, but I think makes the marines contrast better than simply being on regular bases.

A few more pics can be found here:

The lava looks really good. However it looks a bit funny that the marines standing above are totally unaffected by the glow

Everything else is a bit too dark to pick out details. Some of the matallics could do with being washed.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Not a fan, personally. Maybe the effect is different in person, but in these pictures, they look less like sparkly black marines than marines that received a textured basecoat and got dusty.

I do agree with Flinty, though, about the bases. The lava itself looks great, but it seems odd to have the object glowing so noticeably without casting any light on the figure standing directly above it. Perhaps it's time to experiment with OSL on figures?

Thanks for the feedback on the marines. Definately helps me plan out what to do next for more detail.

The question is...how could a wash bring the black out, or should I go with other, lighter colors to offset the darker tone of the miniatures...

I'm pretty sure Dark eldar would be better suited for this scheme. Something so gay should be reserved for them.

You should use glitter glue. Really really. Also, a bit of glitter won't be bad.

The spray you applied kinda makes it look gritty

I am pretty sure that Twilight is the reason why Chaos is trying to destroy the universe, and also why the Eldar don't trust the humans.

The models bases look good, but it is too hard to see the models themselves to pass judgment. I agree on the lava glow BTW.

Yeah, not a fan. As Oadie said, it just looks like the paint got a bit gritty.

Plus, yeah, blue-skinned Libby? What?

I think you need to highlight the armor edges. Even if its just as simple as a hard edge(paint technique) on them. Something to just bring out the lines a bit more. I say congrats on being bold enough to use something different. I as well do full Chrome spray paint on all my vehicles. So now my rokkit buggies are no longer camo, they are chrome, my wagons/battlewagons chrome, dreds chrome. When I get off my keester and get some kans? You guessed it, chrome.
