I was just sitting here wondering whether all the painters on here painter their models to play or if some of them actually just pick random models from all armies just to paint up and display and don't actually play at all.

And I have seen some of your posts on your work and you are an amazing painter.

The Orks and Witch Hunters are for me, but I've got friends who play most of the other armies. That basically means I can paint pretty much anything and it'll find a home on a table top eventually. Also keeps me from having to store too many different minis. Lord knows, I've enough Orks already.

I definitely paint my 40K stuff to play with it. If I want to paint something "just because" I find there are many better options on the market.

A bit of both, I usually buy and paint models that will go in an army list, but some are just for painting.

I paint what i play with. Im not a great painter, so im more of a gamer who likes to paint stuff on the side.

I paint what I play. Though this is mostly cause I can't afford to spend money on models I won't use. I usually paint to a medium table top quality. I like my army to look good, but I want to actually finish them before I'm eighty.

I paint what I play as well. I try to paint all models to the best of my ability, regardless of stature. Not to mention, I really love the game aspect. I couldn't buy a model, paint it, and not wanna field it.

Paint to play. I can paint OK but have no patience to paint well.

I have only played two games to this point and have spent the rest of the time learning and studding the game and painting my force. There is a con coming up in Denver, CO. USA soon that I'll be going to that has some painting classes that I'll be attending to see if I can pick up some skills to increase the speed and quality of my painting. But I intend to use everything at some point or another in a army.

I haven't played a game in a very long time but I buy the rulebooks, codex and models... I just model really, painting isn't my strong suit.

I generally paint to play, but I do buy random models that catch my eye as well, ones that I know I'll never use in an army, or won't for some time.

Painting a squad of Sanguinary Guard currently, just because I wanted to see what I can do with the wings.
