Why take any other Lore on your Sorceror Lord?
Iceshard Blizzard stops shooting, combos well with Hellcannons and is a debuff. Curse of the Midnight Wind and Harmonic Convergance give that combat edge when you need it against really scary units. Windblast helps keep them from charging you and also knocks warmachines off hills. Chain lightning and Thunderbolt are the magic missiles you need for those small units and multiple warmachines. Comet destroys gunlines.
Death is second best, seeing as Purple Sun is for low initiative armies, im not that fussed in losing it because my units can all strike first with multiple S5 attacks. I dont want to character snipe that badly as most of my characters and even some unit champions can smash face enough.
Tzeentch was good in the last edition, but really only has 3 good spells, Flickering Fire is good for putting out regen before hitting them with Lightning or Gateway. Gateway is good for just a 2D6 high strength direct damage spell and a chance for auto killing that 1800pt deathstar unit. Pandemonium is good for two reasons. Your opponent MUST dispel it if he has any sort of magic, which means he might have to dispel it in his magic phase costing power dice and for negating that Leadership bonus from the general, which again, works wonders with a Hellcannon. For these reasons i take Tzeentch on a Lv2 Sorceror usually on foot.
Shadows and Fire dont really fit with my army. Fire isnt necessary and Shadows has debuffs and a buff i dont need and is again initiative orientated like Death.

So thoughts? Experiences? Whats your take on this Lore?

My lizards use lore on the priests due to lack of choice, and honestly. I'm quite happy, i can definately see the great utility the lore offers and use it whenever it's needed, but in a generally upport "backup caster" role.
I have considered Hevens as a main but never wen't trough with it, but thats due to lazyness on my part and still trying to learn to play easyer lists before i get serious with my experimenting.
Either way Heavens gets bad rep for being "useless" or at best "situational", thats because people read the uberspells of other lores and go all "OMG uber drool" which i dont really mind people never dispell my heavens spells when there's a lifeslaan waiting to do damage
Clearly the lore has a potential for sinegy with WoC that i never considered, why don't you give it a shot and let me know.

PS: I'm betting a cookie someone tells you "You're doing it wrong" before the 10th post. I call this "the mist effect" as heavens pulls a wool over the enemy's eyes and is generaly able to make itself seem far weaker than it actually is.

My problem with Lore of Heavens (Or 2 problems actually..) are thus.

The lore has a near worthless attribute.

The lore lacks a deathblow caliber lvl 6 spell.

Other than those two things, I think it's great.

I think it's a solid choice for WoC, as it helps a few of their weaknesses. Consider also that you can use it to build a Chaos Lord than cannot be hit.

(Mark of Nurgle + Glittering Scales + Chaos Runesword .. Makes you WS 9. Your opponent is -1 WS AND -1 to hit.

That means that until WS 6, your opponent needs 6's to hit. Add iceshard blizzard and midnight wind, and no one no matter their WS can touch you. It's a lot of setup that prolly wont happen, but the novelty is there. )

This dosen't work the CC rules clearly state that a roll to hit of a 6 is allways a succces regardless of any modifiers.

Unless all your 6's have to be rerolled, thanks to Curse of the Midnight Wind. Then your highest roll possible is a 5.

You never reroll a reroll. If you roll a 6 followed by a 6 you would still hit. It would be very difficult to hit, but it could still be done.

2,000 - He alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood.
2,500 - Order. Unity. Obedience.

True.

So then..

"Using Lore of Heavens, you can create a Lord that has a 2.975% chance to be hit by opponents with WS 6 or higher."

I actually like the lore attribute in heavens.
D6 S4 hits helps thin out a lot of the things with fly.
It won't slow a dragon or bloodthirster down, but it will help against any flying unit.
I like the heavens and slaanesh combo. Heavens pushing a unit back, slaanesh moving a unit toward a marker. It makes for a good divide and conquer magic phase.

As for the super combo on the lord; you can do all kinds of crazy stuff with the right spell combos. Just watch out for that thunderstomp/breathe in the challenge. And yes, you will be challenging.

Heavens does seem to be a really nice and varied lore for WoC. I don't know that I like it more than Slaanesh, but it doesn't suffer from the immune to psych issues, and has a great deal of flexibility in buffs. I haven't tried it yet, but I definitely plan to.
