To put it simply, were they there? In Collected Visions, Magnus and co are with Horus's forces. However, in the more recent Horus Heresy book series, Magnus was still a staunch loyalist even was transporting himself and his sons to a Daemon World. Are the two incompatible?

The fluff of the Thousand Sons (according to the new book series) is the fact that they are the only chapter to actually have bene betrayed by the Emperor when he sicked the Space Wolves on them. I find it rather ironic that the fact they became a Chaos chapter in the first place was because the Emperor forced them to, they had no other choice.

They were on Prospero then moved to a Daemon world during the siege of Terra.
The siege ended because Horus learned that the Space Wolves and the Dark Angels were both apporoaching Terra. The Ultramarines weren't far behind either of them.

Fair enough.
They were on Prospero long enough to get their arses kicked and then went to Terra where they got their arses kicked before ending up in the Eye of Terror in the service of arguably the most powerful of the Chaos gods.
Though i wonder where their big shiny city went while they were on Terra...

It's just I'm putting together a Thousand sons force at some point soon, that is going to include daemons and whatnot. As such, I'm trying to figure out if they used daemons in the duration of the horus heresy or not, and whether I can use the red colour scheme, or be forced to use blue and gold.

Well...
It appears they must have transported themselves about and sworn allegiance to Tzeetch etc etc. They would have probably been using daemons at the Siege but not before.
Most of them would still be wearing red but maybe some of the sorcerers would have switched to Blue and Gold.

All of the traitor legions would argue this point. The Emperor betrayed all of them by leaving the Crusade and turning the Imperium over to mere mortals.
Magnus had a choice of how to tell the Emperor about Horus betrayel, but he let his big ol' one eyed head swell get in the way ...

Some Tzeentch daemons can appear in any color according to the fluff. People have modeled some great examples. RedBeard for one has an awesome-looking non-GW LoC that is red. I don't know that Pink (and Blue) Horrors are ever anything but Pink (and Blue), however.

So to clarify, there's been nothing written since to state that they weren't at the Siege of Terra?

Nothing says they weren't there and there is stuff saying they were there. Though i assume they dropped their city off on a daemon world first...

All the current/existing fluff does indeed have them at the seige of Terra, I would be very surprised if this fact is changed as/when they get round to documenting the seige in the HH series.
Bear in mind there is a gap of several years between the events on Prospero and the battle on Terra.
They were on Prospero then moved to a Daemon world during the siege of Terra.
The siege ended because Horus learned that the Space Wolves and the Dark Angels were both apporoaching Terra. The Ultramarines weren't far behind either of them.
Not quite : the siege ended because Horus was killed by the Emperor
The Thousands Sons had already been "gifted" their new homeworld at the end of Prospero Burns/Thousand Sons.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

I mean to put the siege ended because Horus did the whole lower shields thing and fight the Emperor because he knew the SW and DA were coming.

I kind of feel that the thousand sons had Daemons with them whilst loyal. They had these...(tutlery's?) I cant spell it as I listend to it as an audiobook but they seemed to be like daemons. Certainly some warp animal.
Anyone know?

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

On of the books, maybe Fulgrim, someone (maybe Maleghurst) tells Horus that the 1k Sons are on his side now.
The Wolves laid waste to Propsero because Horus twisted the Emperor's order. The Emperor wanted Magnus in chains. Horus ordered Russ to destroy him.

Pretty much, yes.
And even further than that, when Magnus bargained with Tzeentch himself to save his Legion.
