which of these two options sounds better for slaying ork and other space marines?

x1 Ironclad Dreadnought with Seismic hammer and DCCW both with heavy flamers in a drop pod.

or

x1 Regular Dreadnought with twin-linked lascannon and missile launcher.

my opponent has quite a few vehicles and 2 large mobs of 'Ard 'Boyz and I'm undecided on which dreadnought to get.
I already have anti-tank partially covered (Land speeder storm) but he does have a lot of vehicles so it could use some help.
On the other hand I am need of some anti-infantry power which is why I considered the Ironclad in a drop pod.

Any suggestions or reccomendations to what works best is welcome.

personally I hate double weapon dreadnaughts becasue they dont have a CCW, thus dont have S10 to open up tanks in CC. If you really want a twin linked lass cannon and a missile launcher couldnt you get that with razorbacks or tactical squads more easily...

But the other one is pure melee and close. It should do well against orcs with the heavy flamers but remember orcs have lots of power claws and it wont last too long in CC.

The regular dreadnought you picked won't do very much to the orks. The blast won't even break the 'ard boyz armor. And the lascannon, in my opinion, would be overkill in most scenarios.

I would go with the Ironclad. Though only give it one heavy flamer, that way you keep the meltagun. Plus the extra A and point of Amor might help out. Only problem is you gotta be close to those power klaws.

What's the rest of your units look like?

As an Ork player, I'd generally be more fearful of the Ironclad. You've got a hvy flamer for taking out bunches of boyz (and its particulary effective against 'Ard Boyz) and if you're drop podding then you've got a decent chance of wrecking a battle-wagon with the melta-gun as well (since you should be able to get side or rear armour).

Of course it does put you into range of power-klaws, but against armour 13 they're only penning on 5 or 6 (on the charge). Then, if they don't wreck you in the first round of combat they're penning just on 6. So you've got a fair chance of surviving some orky retribution and tying squads up after you land. Taking Ironclad assualt launchers would be even more annoying as the nob would lose his bonus attack on the charge as well

Edit: Oh, you might want to mention to the Orky player that you can normally only field 1 mob of 'Ard Boyz...unless you're just ignoring that rule for friendly games!

Definitely the Ironclad, but lose the other heavy flamer: it trades up your versatility for exactly one flamer shot (how often would your Ironclad shoot anyway?). If you're running Vulkan, that flamer shot becomes much more deadly.

If you want to keep the regular dreadnought though, I'd say equip him with a heavy flamer and you're a-okay. It's still a dreadnought, and once it survives the initial charge of orkses it can tarpit them. Not as effectively as the Ironclad, but hey! Multimelta pops vehicles more efficiently.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess.

My favorite configuration for a regular dread is the las cannon, DCCW/h.flamer. He is good against everything.

My list needs the counter-assault though and has a lot of missile launchers so I don't need flak fire.

Ironclads do a good job of tar-pitting mobs of boys though.

Thanks for all the replys!

I think I will take the Ironclad dread in a drop pod with Seismic hammer with a meltagun + DCCW with a heavy flamer.
