Well i have this mk1 land raider. the sponsons are missing and there are new heavy bolters and lascannons glued onto it... but idk what to do with it.. its the 1988 variant and as its now tournament illegal i dont really want it... so how much do they sell for?

Why is it torurnament illegal?

I brang it to 40k singles tournament in nottingham and its now illegal because the shaping is too different to the updated and current games workshop kit.

I'd actually be interested in buyng or trading for this. I like the older models for my Ad Mech army, figurig they'd still use the most ancient and venerable machines. But I'm not sure why you think it would be illegal? As I understand it, Games Workshop models are legal regardless of there age.

It depends. Personally, I'm pretty sure the guy telling you it was illegal was wrong. I've never heard that the older models can't be used, but then again, I'm not a tournament player. I do use a few OOP Rhinos though, and don't get any complaints.

If you really want to sell it, it's probably not gonna go for a vast ammount. Without the origional weapons and the newer ones glued in place, it's...eh. However, I am biased because, as I mentioned, I'd actually be interested in taking yours off your hands. So you'll need to look around.

I think whoever was telling you it was illegal was blowing smoke up your . But then again since I'm not a tournament player I wouldnt know, however this is something you may want to ask GW about

I'd love to get my hands on one of these. Make a good transport for my Iron Hands - they could keep it running.

I guess it could be 'illegal' in a tourney (it is if the TO sez it is, at least for that tourney) but I think you could use it almost all the time.

A lot of people 'collect' as much as 'play' and I am sure you'd have no trouble selling it.

asked gw and they said that its tournament illegal as its newer size adds an advantage to the controlling player so it is an unfair advantage thus rendering it illegal, on a side note the oop rhino is still legal as it bears a similar enough size to be used and it is acceptable as a looted vehicle.

Your tank is perfectly legal. It's a GW model and therefore completely allowed. Anyone who says otherwise is just being a jerk.

If your tank is in good condition, it can fetch $100 on eBay. I've seen New in Box ones go for three times that.

i got this info from head office and tournament officials... so its not false

Models should be fielded on the bases they are supplied with, so OOP terminators should be on the smaller bases.

They are not void. You should use old terminators on the smaller bases.

Jervis Johnson even said in a White Dwarf I read semi recently that GW will never illegalize old models. Since they're still official GW models, they are legit. There's stories of people using the cardboard Ork dreadnoughts from the 2nd ed starter set for god's sakes. The people you're playing with are jackasses.

I seriously doubt the accuracy of whatever was said and the authority of whoever said it.

I strongly suspect it was simply trying to get him to buy one of the newer ones.
