Well like the rest of America I'm resistant to change. But I'm not really sure what to think of the new paint pots. At first glance they look a throw smaller than the old ones but my local GW manager said they hold the same amount of paint. The main problem I have with them is they won't stay open for anything and that gets annoying but hey you can just cut the suckers off. I'm probably just talking to her myself speak but I'd like to know what people think of the switch

Do a search, this topic has been discussed several times already, you will probably get what you are looking for in the older threads.
My advice, get on team Vallejo, droppers = happiness.
Welcome to Dakka!

Yes a million times over about switching to Vallejo. I recently made the change, and I don't know how I could ever stand using those pots...

For those of us who are stuck with the GW brand, they are slightly smaller then the old Foundation paint pots.

Vallejo doesn't suck, that argument does though.
It's called a wet pallete boys, give it a whirl. If you aren't painting straight out the pot (which I assume you aren't) you have to put paint down in something to dilute it anyways, which means you will be wasting some. Try giving the bottle a very gentle squeeze, and wiping half a drop out of Vallejo. I don't see how you are wasting that much. Spend a second or two thinking about a solution next time lol, and remember, eye droppers don't dry out while you paint.
BTW, nothing against reaper, never tried them personally but have heard good things. Were you to say Vallejo paint itself sucks, I woulda been less argumentative, that would have been personal preference and you could argue the different qualities. Saying it isnt possible not to waste paint with a dropper bottle is a bit shortsighted though guys, and you are missing out because of it.

GW Paint Pots drive me nuts, I've been switching to Vallejo myself but really want to give Reaper a try. The paint dries out fast, and drips on the hinge and down the side of the bottle. Then the bottle won't close tightly, even after it's cleaned. I've been using a regular palette and a wet palette, and I love the droppers.

Ok woah! Vallejo does not suck nor do dropper bottles. If you feel you are wasting paint, painting out of an open pot is 10x worse due to letting that much paint have air contact for extended time.
First off, if you want paint to last longer on a palette, use a wet palette or a drying retardant like Slo-Dri from Liquitex.
Droppers allow you to consistently measure ratios for mixing, which with pots requires you to constantly dip and clean brushes to pull paint onto the palette.
I transfer every reaper pro series and GW paint I get to dropper bottles.

I especially hate the new paint pots. The ones before them looked real nice and snapped open. The new ones can't stay open.

Yeah, i noticed this a few days ago after i needed a paint asap and didnt want to wait the near week delivery for the vallejo equivalent. It's just a matter of it not having the tiny plastic tag at the pot lid hinge to hold it open. (Which tbh looks cut off O.o) I personally think its a stupid idea especially as now it closes in such a way the paint drips onto the lid rim!
Is this some sneaky tactic by GW? Hmmm....The plot thickens!

1.) New foundation pots, old foundation pots and citadel pots hold exactly the same amount of paint, as written on the pot.
2.) The Citadel pot design is IP protected, I guess the CHinese manufacturer hadN#t the right to use them. Now that paint production changed again to Nottingham I doubt that it will change again.
3.) The lid of the foundation pots is not supposed to stay open, as then the paint in the lid will run down the outside of the pot. The stopper of the old foundation pots was meant as a stopper, not to keep the lid open. AFAIK the stopper was abandoned with the clear foundation pots so not to confused customers.
4.) Yes, I also prefer the old Citadel paints. Maybe I am too lazy to use a pallette as recommended by GW.
5.) And yes, this topic has been discussed dozens of times.

Every dropper bottle I've used has clogged within a year, with no recourse other than to buy a new top for it.
Plus, my paints need to be more portable, so anything where I am dropping paints onto a palette that might have to move is bad.

Yeah, I hate them too My biggest complaint is that paint gets stuck in the top part of the lid and NEVER DRIES OUT. then you've got this huge mess on the lip of the pot. I'm tempted to say that the transparent lids are preventing the paint from drying out, because I don't have the same problem with the foundations pots.
