Well it seems my comms-link has recieved your message, lol, welcome to the dakkoids mate.
As a tip, just go with the force who grabs your attention, no matter how they play or their rules, just what ever picks your feel.

The Rout, Vlka Fenryka, Warrior Kings of Fenris.... the Space Wolves. Horus Heresy. Sixth Great Company. 1500pts. In progress.

Would it be the backstory of the race, the appearance or the different styles of play that would make you go for an army, just read the backgrounds on the GW website, they'll also have tactica on how the army plays best and go through the galleries on here to check out the armies and im sure one will catch your attention, happy hunting.

Somewhere close to 25'000pts
I lost count a few years back.

The most important thing in choosing an army is to get one you really love the look & feel of. You can win games with any of them, but it's going to take work and practice. You can paint any of them, but again it's going to take work and practice. If you love the look and feel of the army, that'll give you motivation to invest the effort and keep at it.

Welcome to Dakka!

I say look at all the armies available via the GW website, then pick the one that grabs your interest the most. I did this with IG back at the start of 4th edition and have never regretted it.

"That for all the Emperor's love of his space marines, his ultimate creation - he was in fact nearly killed by one of them, only to be saved by a mere mortal with a 5+ save and a flashlight."

Depends man. Are you playing just to be competitive? Read up on the way each on plays and the styles it lends itself to. Is it the look of the massed army on the tabletop that gets you? Check out the models available for each one. I'm big into background myself, so if this would influence your choice, theres a bunch of "fluff" out there, in the rulebook, novels, online.... Good luck man, and welcome! Been playing a few years, but just joined the forum myself today.

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.
