I have a few questions that you guys should be able to help me out on.

By default he comes on a jetbike, but you may also mount him in his special Land Speeder which is BS5 14,14,10.

My question is - can he still attack when mounted in the Land Speeder?

If not, then why would you ever take it? At that point it is a 20X point Land Speeder that still has armor 10 in the rear. It has a twin linked Assault Cannon and Twin Linked heavy bolter, but for 50 more points you can take a Land Raider Crusader that can shoot just as much due to POTMS, can carry troops, and has rear armour 14 - I guess I just don't get why you would put him in the speeder if he can't attack.

Its there for when he submits to SM peer preasure and finally gives up his super awesome made of win jetbike.

I don't really know, I suppose its there for fluff reasons.

wait are you serious? I play pure ravenwing as one of my main armies, and the jetbike has never ever done anything other than look cool. The landspeeder is god. The armour 10 rear has never been an issue for me, just be aware of it and don't be reckless with him/ but the BS 5 twin linked assault cannon and heavy bolter massacres light tanks and infantry

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

Sammael is one of the 2 half-decent named characters in the codex.

The jetbike rarely does much other than draw fire. You might get lucky with the plasma cannon, and even if you don't, its presence in your army, while a bit random, does at least force your opponent to un-cluster deep-strikers rather than attempting to shoot... but that's not worth 205 pts. His CC abilities are nothing to write home about -- he's OK, but again, not worth 205.

The speeder gives you consistent, powerful anti-infantry fire for most or all of the game, unless you're very careless or unlucky. You should hit with 6-7 shots per turn. Unlike a pred, you can shoot on the move. If you like or need to, you can threaten side armour with him pretty easily too. It's still not worth 205 pts by itself, but...

...what you really take Sammael for is unlocking bikes as troops. He's the only way to do that with the DA codex. So if you want a bike army, he has to go in there. Personally I'd use the speeder version if I had other armour in the army, or the jetbike version if not.

What he said.

Ignore the rear AV10. 95% of all vehicles in the game have rear AV10 and nobody complains. About 2% of vehicles in the game have AV14 on the front and sides. Plus all that other stuff up there; that's why you take the Speeder.
