Sybarite Swinging an Agonizer

Hello all.

I am painting my Dark Eldar and I am having a huge problem with getting a decent looking flesh tone. I want them pale looking but everything I am doing is making them look to... human. A lot of guides I have read usually use Dhreb Stone and then do either an Ogryn Flesh wash or a Leviathan Purple wash. After the wash, they then perform what is called a "highlight" with the Dhreb Stone again.

My question is... what the heck exactly is a "highlight"? Is that drybrushing? I've trying drybrushing it and it makes it look awful. I have also tried using the brush with a nice amount of paint on the brush but then it just destroys what the wash did previously. Is there some technique that I am misunderstanding? Anyone have any tips/pointers/videos that shows me exactly how to do "highlighting"?

Playing chess doesn't require skill, it just requires you to be good at chess...

...that would be a skill

A highlight is when you retouch the raised areas that would be most likely to have light shining directly on them like forehead, nose and cheekbones most people highlight in stages covering less and less material each time untill your only toughing up the brow, and nose for instance with a very fine line of almost white paint
