I recently did some conversion on my Mad Doc Grotsnik and finally got him all painted up. So, I'd really like to use him in my army. Just not sure what the best build would be. I know from reading other posts that most people suggest sticking him in a mob of Meganobz. So, odds are i'll probably try that. But not sure what i should do for the rest of the army. Looking for suggestions.

Typically I play 1500 pt games. Any ideas?

With that out of the way. I've seen him run in a meganob unit with a battlewagon quite sucsesfully, by using a transport you get around his rage and a unit like that with FNP is nasty, one other thing i've seen is him in a boyz unit of 19 all with his special cyborgness and also in a wagon, it was a tough horde to deal with, lastly someone ran him in a huuge foor unit (30-40 not really sure) they where brutal but liable to be led around by fast skimmers.

You dont get around his "Rage", if you look at the FAQ the BW is then required to move towards the nearest enemy, as he doesn t have "Rage" (which requires LOS) but something worded a lot, lot better....

Best bet for the Mad Dok to be utilized is to throw him in a footslogging list, place him with 30 tough ork boyz, squeeze the unit in between other ork boy units, and funnel him towards the enemy.

His upgrades for cybork are probably one of his better contributions to an army along with FNP for the unit he goes with.

You could also try putting him in with Meganobs in a BW or a Trukk and get him as close to the enemy as you can before the transport kerplodes.

Just remember to aim him well.

Ambush him with snikrot and ghaz. FNP ghaz and kommandos coming in from your board edge?

RUN AWAY!!! (from the people who claim you can't do this...)

Well, if you ever play apoc, put him in a green tide unit. 100+ orks with FNP? Yes, please!

It would have to be triple 1s. So not really likely. Also its totall legal. Its a jerk off move IMO, but at a tourny, you play to win, so I would be a jerk

Id personally stick him in a MANz unit, and cybork them all. So now Manz would be MANz but with a 5++ AND FNP. That would be a scary unit.

I personally wouldn't take him. He really doesn't add anything a normal painboy doesn't, and he has rage (sort of). Yeah he has a powerklaw, but there are other places to get those. I think he is overpriced, when you can get a painboy, which does basically the same thing, for much cheaper.

Although he is an independent character...

Yeah, but the cheap painboy you mention is only an upgrade for the normal Nobs. Personally, I think that painboys should be HQ, allowing for more variety.

FlashGits get them as well. But yea you cant really compare the Doc to a normal painboy. He can go ANYWHERE and can grant a cybork to practically your whole army.

i use grotsnik with a squad of normal boyz, they have a 6+ save but get a feel no pain of 4+, he gives the squad the Fearless rule. using him with 19 boyz in a battlewagon is a great idea, if you can then just use a full squad of 30 boyz and add grotsnik to them. 30 fearless boyz with feel no pain, ive done some damage with that before now!

How about using Grotsnik and Big Mek w/ KFF? It would make for a nasty BW brigade with cybork meganobs attached to the Doc and some other BW's full of boyz or nobs with KFF. Althought in higher point games I might opt for Ghazzy...

2+/5++/FnP MegaNobs? Mephiston shall die

Nah, you only get 3 dice if the IC is on his own.

I recently had Snikrot, Mad Doc and 12 kommandos show up in my backfield. They were really tough to kill - in fact I couldn't get rid of them! They did lose a turn attacking an empty truck, but they did plenty of damage.

I am planning on running a BW, Mad doc and a hardboy unit sometime - but yikes - it's like almost 500 pts!

I must be missing where it says that in the book. Mind giving me a page number?

Page 75, the move trough cover USR has a "*" next to it which means an IC joining a unit without it looses it.

I should correct that, an IC has move through cover, kommandos do as well, since they only lose the special rule if they join a unit that doesn't have the rule, the entire squad of kommandos and two IC's have the move through cover USR.

On topic: I prefer to use the doc with a unit of ard boyz and then just throw it at my foes. It draws so much fire that all my other orky elements normally make it to their targets. Never lost a game doing this either.
