Ive been out of 40K for about a year now and have broken down, due to a sudden surge, to get back into 40K. As the title goes Im going after Choas Space Marines due to their different feelings. I really love thousand sons units so one of these is a must for me. As for my army its going to be healthy mix of Khorne and Nurgle. I intend to run possesed marines as well and put these guys in a Rhino. I also Intend to do this with my berserkers. As for Heavy support I am a bit torn as I will have a Vindacator next week but I really want a defiler and give it more cc arms. I also will have a unit of Havocs armed with two missile launchers and two las cannons. My terminators will be nurgle themed and Ill run their special charcter with them, I cant remember his name off the top of my head. Im just looking for any comments or help as Im trying to play a cc Army instead of what I use to play IG.

Some tips:

Word of caution with Possessed. Normaly I would say there isn't anything wrong with them, but they are far too random to be used reliably. If your going to use them, don't rely on them for your strategy, just kind of toss them in the right direction and hope for the best.

Between a Defiler or a Vindicator, personally I like the Vindicator, but the extra ranged ordanance on what is basically a Dreadnaught is rather nice. Either works for artillary heavy support, but go with your personal preferance here.

Also, unless your dead set on going with Khorne Berserkers, I would go with Noise Marines. That extra initiative is a life saver, especially if your champion has a Power weapon. Don't give them all Sonic Blasters, just equip the Champ with a Power Weapon, and you have a pretty gosh darn mean CC unit with a far greater reach than Berserkers.

Always remember that your Havocs have Bolt Pistols + CCWs, too. That saves your bacon so many times when people try to charge what they consider to be a soft target, when they end up fighting the guys with 3 attacks each. To get that third attack, try to assault with them, always good for the lulz.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Typhus is a boss, I've insta-gibbed the nightbringer with him many times. He is also a great looking model.

Everything else your looking at looks good. Consider using the terminators in deep strike with typhus and giving them some combi meltas since it looks like you will be lacking in the anti-vehicle department.

Your possessed are oddly quite good no matter what, though a large cost. Tossing on the mark of tzneech allows them to basically attack anything but some vehicles/walkers and certain monstrous creatures without fear.

Your berserkers need a powerfist in the unit, otherwise they will do fine.

You should possess your vindicator, since that will allow it to always shoot, which is a good thing.

Consider the mark of chaos glory on your havocs, it will allow you to re-roll leadership checks that will result from them getting shot and if they happen to fail, they will basically be not helping you for a turn since they moved and their weapons are heavy.

I am not a big friend of Possessed. They are expensive and quite random for what they can do. Plaque Marines and Berserkers usually offer you much more bang for your buck.
Typhus is kind of meh, expensive, bad invulsave and no eternal warrior...no thanks. Take Kharn instead, he is cheap but still very efficient in cc.
A single Vindicator won't help you much because it will draw too much attention. You will be happy if it can fire at all. Daemonic possession helps here a bit, but don't depend on it.

Thanks guys I appreciate it, the reason why Im getting possesed is because I intend to buy the battlion force box because it's the best bang for the buck and I dont like buying models that I dont use. Vindicator I'll picking up this weekend along with Typhus, Terminators, & the lord/sorcerer plastic kit. Also I should have another 9 thousand sons by tuesday as well. I already have 20 space marines, 2 with missile launchers two with las cannons. 10 Noise Marines, 12 berserkers, and a lord in terminator armor. oh yes and 6 thousand sons with no sorcerer. Not a bad start and it will only get better with time.

The Battleforce is extremely flexible in what you can make out of it. The Possessed can be given a few CC weapons and Khorne shoulderpads, and be made into more Berserkers. Same goes for the other CSM in the box if you mix and match parts between them and the Berserkers. Normal CSM can also be used as Noise Marines, provided they are painted up like that and has a few models in the unit to indicate so.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
