(Not sure if this is in the right topic area so I don’t mind if it gets moved)

I want to name my vehicles for my Space Wolves, but I'm having problems coming up with the name.

All I have at the moment is

"The Pride of Fenris"
"The Spirit of Fenris"

Any other suggestions would be great

"The Pride of Spirit" or maybe the "Spirit of Pride"

You could name them after the Twilight wolfpack members

Another golder oldie is to come up with pidgin Latin names of anything you like. alternatively you could name them after a famous action they were involved with. Think about the games you've played with them, have there been any moments of awesomeness?

i.e. Hellcat's revenge, Victory of Carnesat, Tyrant's downfall, End of the Xeno

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You forgot "The Fenris of Fenris"

I personally like to use quite long names in the likes of "The One Who..", like Exalted's Abyssals (for thos of you who know)

"The One Who Crushes"

"The One Who Crushes The Menace"

"The One Who Crushes The Menace And Doesn't Turn Back"

"The One Who Crushes The Menace And Doesn't Turn Back Except To Check If It Didn't Dropped Something"

etc..

adjectives only are quite good too, like "The Powerful", "The Mighty", "The Hairy"

but yeah, once you've played them more, I would go with the idea of giving them names based on their awesome moments ^^

Well... if I'm correct on the Twilight mythos he's referring to, "Jacob The Sparkle Lover" :/

Good names could be
crucial events (reserve this for offensive vehicles such as LR or preds)

Named after drivers, so just the names of a SW and possibly a number, e.g Rahjak 1st

Legendary titles (especialy approprate for SW). Names such as Fang of Morkai or Hammer of the gods.

Anything 'Norse' related will probably do. I prefer evocative names for my vehicles.

like

"Scion of the winter storm"

"Frost fire"

"Mjolnirs Thirst"

"Ravenholm" (We don't go there anymore)

For my Dark Angels, my Razorback/Rhinos operate in a spearhead (in theory at least)... thus the three Rhino/Razorbacks are named after the three tools of the archetypal medieval warrior: Aegis, Fury and Sword...

For Space Wolves you definitely want a Nordic vibe... I go for Russ' Hammer

Gungnir for a tank, Sleipnir for a transport, might be good too

But I say Rochronos wins a lot with his post.

(oh, and Henners91, I so love your avatar, what model is it?)

Colour + term for a Wolf "White Wolf"
Piece of Wolf anatomy + Term for a wolf "Red Mane" "Wolfs tail"
Verb + term for a wolf "Snarling Wolf""Furious Lupis"

Otherwise the terms "Death, Claw, Fangs, Storm, etc"

Latin for Wolf - Lupis / Lupine (notice howl at the moon Lunar?)

Dead easy just think in simple terms.

You can find the entire corpus of extant Eddic poetry available online to peruse for inspiration. Apposition and kennings were so damn popular, you could name each model in 1000pt. list only using the names of Odin (Grim for his obscure and deceitful nature, Gautr as progenitor of the Goths, etc.). Between the Aesir, Vanir, valcyries, giants, dwarfs, weapons, kings, and heroes names that can be found in any saga or either Edda, a SW player should never run out of names, should they follow GW's example and pluck isolated bits of the mythos out to sprinkle generously over their mohawked caricature of a culture.

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

Some simple names yet have some sort of connection with Space Wolves. I mean, Wolves.

Land Raider Food Chain or Alpha Alpha. Aww yeeehh.

I'd also further add that longer, more impressive names should be reserved for Land Raiders and perhaps Predators... Vehicles like Rhinos are best named with one word.

Or you could find natural phenomena (such as storm types, types of lightning etc) and use their latin names?
