since the new showcase forum has sprung up, i've found myself gravitating more there than the regular modelling or P&M blog forums because of the presence of painted pics instead of WIP ones. recently, i've been disappointed with the increasing number of unpainted threads popping up there and decided to check what the rules were... to my surprise, the forum does NOT require painted models, only "finished". is there a reason why dakka doesn't go the extra step and require them painted? it's not much of a showcase when someone just assembles a mini with a slightly different pose or a converted bit here and there and it certainly doesn't make the new forum stand out any from the other two P&M ones.

Painting and MODELLING showcase.

Some people just don't enjoy painting.

so, i'll throw that right back at you, lol. Painting AND Modelling showcase...for "FINISHED" miniatures... they're not finished if they're not painted. my point is that nicely converted models and WIP stuff already has a home (or two). if you've got a nicely converted mini and you don't enjoy painted, you can post it in P&M, P&M blog (if you start early enough in the process), or just post it up in the gallery without a forum thread.

I would argue that an extensive conversion can be a project in itself, and so can still be "finished" while remaining unpainted. I suspect that's the thinking of the policy-makers here.

The Showcase is indeed intended for finished models. The intro thread has been adjusted slightly to make that clearer.

So, if you come across threads with unpainted models, just hit the mod alert button to bring them to our attention so we can mvoe them to the appropriate forum.
