okay so straight to the point, does Abadon wound himself on a roll of a 1 with his daemon sword? the Chaos guy i play with says no and wont let us touch his codex! so im depending on you Dakka.

Yes he wounds himself. It is a daemon weapon, so the extra attacks, but the downside of rolling a "1" for those attacks.

Better option is to get him to show you himself where it says he DOESNT get wounded.

Abbadon wounds himself on a 1, its in my codex.

He may be thinking back to the last book where Abaddon had full control, and never had a chance of a problem with the daemon weapon. This did not survive into the 4th ed codex.

As a rule of thumb, if someone refuses to show you a rule in their codex, simply do not play with that person.

If you are in an organized event, and you are paired against them, and they refuse to show you a rule, call the judge or event organizer over, and they will MAKE the person show you.

When using a demon weapon, you roll a d6 and add the extra attacks to that assault phase, however if you roll a 1 then the demon weapon causes a single wound with no armor saves allows to the model and it cannot attack in melee. You still get your invun save if you have one.

As stated, don't play the person unless he is gonna man up.

Consequently, you could just ask him to read the bottom half of page 93 in the CSM codex...

Anyone who hides their codex like that is trying to cheat IMHO. Like juraigamer said, he will still get his invulnerable save, so not all is lost.
