Ive been spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to track down this mini. Ive had some success, but its rarity and price have got me wondering just exactly why its so rare and pricey. Was it some sort of special release? Can anyone enlighten me?

It's beastmen alright (ninja'd). I have never seen it before, but maybe it's OOP, or an exclusive gamesday model? Or something along those lines.

Very small picture having some trouble making it out. Is it just a Gor that has been converted?

NM found it here, a few posts in:

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Holy cow that's a nice model. really superb detail. Well worth the money, no matter how much.

The guy on hargus56's link said it was a gamesday model. I'd reckon from before 1997, at least.

According to Solegends, its the limited edition BSB which came in the big army box.

From Hargus' link (RantheCid's also has excellent pics of it):

I believe RanTheCid is right about its' origin, there's a wood elf limited edition standard bearer model that is similarly expensive and hard to track down that came from their big army box... although a quick ebay search yields several WE ones, but no beastmen :-/.

Almost all Army Deals had a standard bearer as the limited edition model only available with that box, can't remember standard bearers also as Games Day miniatures.

Army Deals were big boxes released before a major release, including most new plastic and metal miniatures of that release, for almost no discount but with said limited model. Costed between 150 and 250 € and was almost obsolete 2 weeks later, when you could save money with the new batallion box. So it never was a big seller and finally discontinued.

Think some also included the army book, so you could get your army running before the actual release. I have a nearby store that has some of these boxes. I've been tempted to get the Ogres and Tomb Kings boxes, but I have those books so wasting money there but they want like near $300 for them here is the Brusier in that box:

Back when they did the larger army boxes, they generally included a Limited Edition model of an army banner. Generally pretty nice models. I think I have at least one of each in my collections. GW Trade Sales at the time would offer an army box to stores ordering a lot of new releases, to paint up for their store displays. I usually ended up getting 2 or 3 for myself that way, as after we cycled armies out of the stores a few yers later, they all end up in my gaming room.)

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
