Hello all!

I am a brand new user thats been lurking for a few weeks now. I just recently started painting and while I am not a pro or even that good its still alot of fun. I hope that my skills improve rapidly. Anyway the reason I started this thread is because I want to get some world eaters off of forgeworld and paint them in their traditional army colors. The white and blue instead of the brass and deep red, I have enough of that with the blood angels lol.

My question is what color blue should I use? Washes? Tips on painting them? Also the forgeworld minis have small teeth in the "mouth piece" of the helm. Any suggestions on painting those? I was thinking doing the gums a pink maybe a red wash? regular skull whit with some blood red on the tips? Finally please post some awesome pictures of World Eater armies either with the current colors or the ones I am aiming for for some insipration!

Thanks again for the time and responses! I appreesh it

I just googled pre-heresy world eaters. I'd suggest maybe a regal blue? of course theres far better painters on here that will have better suggestions.

For the teeth I'd use a dheneb stone as a base coat and use bleached bone on top of that.

thats the only suggestions I've got. good luck with the army, be sure to post some photos :-)

I def will once I get em started but here is a picture that i stumbled across that gave me the desire to start these guys

Kharn...

I am def gonna do the blood splatter so tips on that would be helpful too lol. Would I just take blood or gore red and flick it onto the model?

I'm doing something similar myself. Although its a diorama based on pre-heresy World Eaters.

For the blood pick up some Tamiya clear red and follow this guide: http://www.throneofskulls.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=20

Either a light stipple or the flick technique from an old toothbrush works nicely. IMO they have overdone the gore on your example pic just a bit.

nice thanks for the link What blue are you using for your army? And im guessing skull white is what ill be using for the armor? Like I said I really have just started painting and I know nothing of base coats and stuff so any info or links on that stuff too would be very appreeshed

I'm using vallejo luftwaffe uniform blue on mine as it has a flat quality that I thought fitted the world eaters look better than a bright blue. As the armour is white I didn't want the blue bits to dazzle as well and take away the contrast that the blue provides. I think most people use GW regal blue if that helps.

For the armour an all-over base coat of astronomican grey followed by a couple of thin coats of skull white, avoiding the recesses, will do you nicely. Make sure you thin down your white paint a bit otherwise it can leave quite a chalky finish which isn't great on smooth marine armour plates.

Also don't worry too much if you fudge a couple of bits of the white - a splattering of gore will hide it and no-one will ever know

Thanks so much I will def give that a try when i get my models. Like I said I still suck at painting lol so even with my few blood angels I have painted its been a learning experience with how im doing things. I Just recently started painting them gore red followed by a baal red wash and then painting the blood red ontop. Idk if thats what most people do but it comes out better then just painting them blood red lol

Just gotta say - for a new painter white is a VERY difficult color to paint, at least for entire models.

Some advice I've heard is to prime and paint the model white, then give it a thinned blue wash and turn it upside down. After that I guess you'd paint over the flatter areas. A watered down blue wash into the recesses would work too. You just have to be obscenely careful with it.

Here is another question. How do you paint wings? I have the sanguinary guard and I really have no clue how to paint the wings as terrible as that sounds lol. And maybe ill give it a try with the blue wash
