Hi all!

I'm new to the forum, I've been collecting 40k for some time now, learning how to paint and the rules. I am now in need of Terrain. Dont have alot of time (or skills) so was thinking of buying some to go on with.

I've noticed on ebay sombody is selling alot of scenery/buildings does anybody have any exsperance of dealing with this guy or any opinions on his stuff.

Heres a link in case you havn't seen it, most of his good
stuff is on the second page

LINK: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/designchris/m.html

Then the answer is probably no, nobody has. Looking at the one item he has, it looks like something that could easily be scratchbuilt with some hardboard and foamcore.

If you are after some good quality pre-built terrain have a look at Galeforce 9's Battlefield in a box. Brilliant items and you can have a 6x4s worth of terrain for under £100

This guy is selling for about a month. Nobody of his 18 customers seems to be on Dakka. What did you expect?

But I can recommend GW's City of Death buildings, Armorcast, Pegasus Hobbies and Ziterdes for a start.

Pegasus Hobbies is a great place to start. If you want to stay generic, you can get just about anything you need from them.

I do like the Gale Force 9 stuff as well.

If you want to spend your time building your own, Hirst Arts makes moulds that you fill with plaster (you can get ultra-hard setting plaster from Tomps in the UK) to make bricks, tiles, metal struts etc which you can then assemble into pretty much anything.

Once you have the mould you can use it (with appropriate care) pretty much forever.

It can be a slow process, but is also worth the cost.

I have seen his auctions, and I'm immensely unimpressed. Everything looks *adequate*, at best.

There are other terrain sellers online/ebay. Check them out.

I can vouch for one guy with a GREAT reputation. BITZJUNKIE is one of the advertisers over on Bartertown. he does GREAT work at excellent prices.

I had a look at his auctions sold, and if I'm honest I'm looking at the prices he's been getting and thinking I should start making terrain to sell on ebay.

Not got the time sadly, but hell if some of those command £10-30, for the time I know I spend chucking mine together. Wow.

No offense to the seller, but the terain he has made is easily made using foamcore and other bits and bobs, there are plenty of tutorials out there, I believe someone has mentioned miniwargaming in another thread they are pretty good on terrain tutorials, I believe the best video you have to pay for memeber ship which is about $2 I think.

But I agree with Darkest Sin, if I had time I would make and sell terrain if thats the prices they are going for...

It doesn't take much to make some stuff to play with.

A couple of sheets of foam board, a couple of trees, and some Goldfish scenery.

You get a few basic tools, and some sites that you can look at for inspiration, and away you go.

Don't buy that stuff anyway, it looks like gak. You need to pool your money into your own stuff.

A couple of cool sites-

THIS guy is the master. You look over his stuff, and if you can't come up with something, you need to check your pulse.

http://www.matakishi.com/

This is a necromunda scenery site with some great looking plans and stuff. Great on a budget. 20 bucks and some change, and away you go.( thats only a few pounds, I think.)
http://www.ironhands.com/necro.htm

And if it goes down to you really wanting to buy stuff, look around, first. There is a gak load out there for free, and the ideas behind them don't take that much of a hand to make.

I don't honestly think that guys stuff is all that great. Sorry, might be just me, but it isn't worth what he's asking.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments, advice and opinions, I have looked at lots of sites which have been recommended, I feel that terrain is a very important part of gaming and while there are lots of extremely well made and greatly detailed terrain available such as Games workshop, Forgeworld,Pegasus, armorcast etc I feel it is all very similar, plastic, lacks realisim perhaps clinical is the word and a battlefield is anything but that. on the positive side there is what I feel REAL terrain made by people like Terraformer out of this world saw this in the gallery, also Bitzjunkie as recomeneded again realistic terrain again stalingrad looking good as for other listing on ebay nothing else in this country. I shall continue looking and planing my table before spending my hard earned money, thanks
