All right, just go ahead and laugh now. Get it out.

I'm going to use Vanguard Veterans.

...

Done?

OK, *ahem* I have an all Jump list in mind, with three "dirty tricks". This is a FUN list, not meant as some "ubar" tournament list or anything - but I don't want to just get crushed.

Here's my problem: With two Vanguard Veterans squads, all with 1 lightning claw or a power weapon (seems like a good idea) - how many, according to ye MathHammer gurus, should have storm shields if I want them to have storm shiields?? Assuming squads of 5, I'm thinking that 2 is right, 3 is probably less right, 4 is pointless, and 5 is a hugeantic waste of points. I'm sure any number of you have a magic formula for figuring out what's correct, and it will have something to do with the Holy Dogma of Wound Allocation Shenanigans. Right?

Problem 2: Astorath. Thinking of taking him for the "lots of fearless and Furious Charge" - but fearless might just get more guys killed than necessary in case of losses in combat.

Problem 3: six Sanguinary Priests with inferno pistols and power weapons. Spread them out but near all the assault squads and the VVets, but able to break off and kill pesky tanks. Is this remotely workable?

So far, I am 7-1-0 with my Blood Angles, but that's with a very silly Mechanized Librarian list. It's had it's day and I want to try something else. So I was thinking about what would be about as opposite as possible, and still be Blood Angles? This was the thought I had, but I haven't had much sleep. Does it show?

I'm somewhat confused here. Are you going to a jump BA army with Vanguard core?

If so, what about troop choices? You will have to table your opponent FTW.

Assault squads are the troops. Thinking 3-4 squads of 5-6 (depending on how I configure them and what else I take).

Don't give up with your Librarian list - I crush those under foot every time!

Seriously though, I think that Vanguard Vets get a bad rap - and if you combine them with Sanguinary priests, you might be on to a winner there - cant hurt to try it a few times!

OK.

Here are a few comments (IMHO)

- You can only take 3 priests unless you run an honour guard.
- Put some Infernus pistols and/or Power Fists in the AS otherwise you can't pop armour.
- Astorath is cool but Mephy will do more and can't be insta-deathed. (well, most of the time)
- The priests will need jump-backs otherwise the will left behind. Razorbacks might work better for the priests. It gives you a larger footprint for FC and FNP and they can't be singled out in CC.

@myceatman: Priests come 0-3 per slot. He can take 6 without a problem

@OP: I suggest a storm shield for any model with a lightning claw, as I assume you are using them for heroic intervention and the pistol becomes worthless with the LC anyway. Run 2 this way, and the rest with power weapon/pistol. This is suggested per 5-man unit. Run 3:2 ratio of PW:LC/SS. How does that sound?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Maybe I miss read this. Page 87 of the codex states "You can take 1-3 Sanguinary Priests". Does that mean per slot or total? I interpreted that as 3 total.

It says "You can take between 1-3 Sanguinary Priests as a single Elites Choice". This means you can have a max of 9, assuming you take no other elites. Brother Corbulo counts towards this limit too.

Just checked, if you read the rest of the line after the Brother Corbulo part it says "as a single elites choice"

It's also why people hate facing BAs. They can take almost 6 times the amount of apothecaries other armies can take, and it's not restricted to just the command squad.

You may need some tank popping abilities/equipment.

Sorry, I didn't include all the pertinent details. Turns out I'm not so crazy, maybe.

Each AS has a sgt with power weapon, and a trooper with an infernus pistol.

Half the priests have infernus pistols

Each Lightning Claw vet has a storm shield.

For clarity, my Librarian list is 7 wins, one draw, and zero losses. I'm putting it aside because it's proven itself and I don't like beating my friends into paste *all* the time.
