When i first came to read my first's warhammer army book dark elves, i came by cold one knights.

Cold ones has +2 on the riders armour save, tho there is not an option to armour them so as to receive +1 adittional armour save.

So dark elves are getting a stupid-movement 7 mount (fear doesnt mean much nowadays) with the same armour as an empire's horse with barbing.

Is this kinda stupid or just a balanced option-way of mounts?

Balance and to represent the different armies and how they are armoured.

You are also stupid Ld9 with a BSB nearby. It's not really a problem.

Not that stupid, as the barding on the empire horses decrease their movement to 7, just as the cold ones has it.

Also, with WS 5, hatred, Str 4 base, and Str 4 mounts, Cold Ones Knights are actually pretty reliable on the charge.

I know that your psychology doesn't pass to your mount, but do Dark Elf Cold Ones hate everyone on their own for some reason? I know the Hydra (...seven attacks...) does.

How they got raptors and seven-headed monsters of myth to join their emo party is beyond me.

Anyway...I'd imagine that comparing the whole model (mount and rider) to their equivalent in other armies would probably show that they're more or less balanced, point-for-point. Unless there's some other complaint here, like they cost 30 more points than some other knight or something a bit less silly.

They taught them that everyone but their riders and handlers keep snacks hidden in their pocket. A little bacon stashed in random passers by, and soon the beasties are willing to tear into anyone with great abandon to get it.

I got one better for you. Your cold one riders go at a tough 3, not the mounts 4. How slowed is that.

That's because when you kill the rider, the mount runs off (in fright, or because a dead dude pulled his reins as he fell), dies, or in the case of Cold Ones, stare off into space and drool, apparently. Or they savage their rider's fallen body.

...I'm not sure if looking for bacon counts as "Hatred". Unless it's a Hydra; that little bit of pork only goes so far, and all the heads have to compete with each other.

Hydras get hatred because according to fluff theyre trained for years to be driven to such a level of frenzy, cold one knoghts mounts get it because GW neglected to specify which element of the duo has the hatred, sort of like the mark of khorne situation.

Would you recommend a second hydra (for the first one is a must) on a Dark elf list for a game 2500+?

As a dwarf player, my flaming cannons and I feel that you should take at least six or eight hydras per game

Um...I don't think I would. You'd kill...I don't know. Probably two, if you had three cannons. Then the other four or six would eat you.

If there are 6 - 8 hydras a game, they dwarf player can take more than 3 cannon....

Yea but unlike cannons hydras are universally usefull and more likely to come in such high numbers.

Cannons, organ guns, bolt throwers.
I think dwarves win this one on sheer number since there are restrictions on how many you can take.
They simply max out cannons then move onto the next machine

also, would you really want to put more than 2 hydra's together? lol
I know i fething wouldnt.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

anyone who plays DEs, who knows how hidiously undercosted they are, would assemble 20 Hydras if they could afford the dough AND take that many.
