Brain-Dead Zombie of Nurgle

Good day, DakkaDakka.
Can you help me with a little problem in subj.
Im painting my CSM Nurgle army and struck on weapones. How to paint rusty, long used, hardly scratched bolter and ChSw?
May be smth like that ones: http://xmages.net/storage/10/1/0/6/2/upload/0282b26e.jpg
Ive tryed in this way: dark green basecoat, drybrush with mythril silver, badab black wash and final drybrush with Tin bitz. The result, i think, is awfull.
Here it is:

When I paint rust, I usually either
paint it like usual metal, then stibble a rusty colour (like Calthan brown+ Scab red) onto it, or
paint it in a rusty colour, then stibble metal colour on it.

What works for me for old weathered metals is to basecoat in Calthan Brown, Heavy dry brush of Graveyard Earth, light drybrush of Desert Yellow, then highlight using Boltgun and Chainmail in a few small areas and along extreme edges.
You could also use a black wash before you drybrush to make the crevices really dark.
Add small patches of rust with a few dabs of Macharius Solar Orange.

I sometimes basecoat dark brown, give it a spotty wash of blazing orange/vermin brown, then drybrush gunmetal grey
